Yesterday’s interview got me thinking about the gap between what we say and what we actually do.

if we want a community that treats each other with dignity, we have to act it out, especially when it’s hard. But we also need to look at the top. When policies are designed to divide, they set the thermostat for the entire province.

Every day, we’re told that change only comes from big moments, big titles, big platforms. But the truth is quieter and far more powerful: we shift the world by showing up. Consistently. Imperfectly. Unapologetically.

Showing up is political.
Choosing compassion is political.
Refusing to look away is political.
Holding the line when it would be easier to stay silent is political.

You don’t need a podium to make an impact. You don’t need permission to care. Every conversation you have, every boundary you set, every time you advocate for someone who’s being dismissed or ignored—you’re shaping the culture we all live in.

Real change isn’t built in election cycles. It’s built in the everyday moments where we decide who we are and what we stand for.

So keep showing up.
Keep choosing people.
Keep choosing justice.
Keep choosing the kind of world you want to live in.

Because the truth is: the future isn’t shaped by the loudest voices.
It’s shaped by the ones who refuse to stop showing up.

Today, on International Women’s Day, I’m thinking about the fire it takes to be a woman in a world that still debates our humanity. And what hits me hardest is how often women end up turning against women, forgetting that our strength has always come from flying together, not tearing each other apart.
If there was ever a moment to come back to each other, to remember the power of moving as a flock instead of scattering, it’s now.

International Women’s Day in a World That Still Debates Our Humanity

Some days it doesn’t show up as a headline or a statistic, it shows up as a notification.
A stranger deciding my body is public property.
A comment tossed like confetti with zero regard for how it lands.

And for years, I was taught to swallow it.
To be flattered.
To be grateful.
To make myself smaller so men could feel bigger.

I’m done with that.
My sexuality is not a public service.
My boundaries are not negotiable.
And my discomfort is not an invitation to debate.

If you want access to me — my time, my energy, my heart — you meet me with care, curiosity, and humanity.
Anything less is noise, and I’m no longer available for noise.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how easily we underestimate people — not because they lack wisdom, but because their wisdom wasn’t earned in a classroom.

Some of the strongest, sharpest, most capable people in our communities learned life the real way. Through fire. Through rebuilding. Through showing up when it mattered.

And yet… they’re still overlooked.

This isn’t just a personal frustration.
It’s a community issue.
A leadership issue.
An equity issue.

If we don’t start valuing lived experience, we’re going to keep missing the very people who hold the grit, clarity, and heart our communities actually need.
