Living Aktive LIVING AKTIVE’s mission is to improve people’s health and happiness LIVING AKTIVE is an innovative group-based interval exercise program.

The objective is to provide unique exercise classes that educate and improve the fitness of each participant. Each workout is intelligently crafted to deliver a specific intensity and fitness objective. Classes are designed with a comprehensive view of all the various aspects of fitness. It’s not just about exercise; it’s about quality of life and living an active life. LIVING AKTIVE distinguishes itself through a unique edge in program design, which is strongly matched by an unparalleled fitness concept - a true compliment to any active lifestyle. The movements are hand selected for each specific interval. On any given day participants may use kettlebells, medicine balls, benches, stairs, jump ropes, stretch bands, functional movements … the list goes on. The unorthodox equipment and diversity keeps each day challenging but more importantly educational and engaging. Our lifestyle is typically in motion and we workout to compliment that. Workouts each week will vary in its objective. The variety in exercise prescription will give participants the ability to map out their ideal combination of workouts to achieve maximum results. LIVING AKTIVE staff will also advise participants on what exercise activity per week is best for their health and fitness objectives. Part of the LIVING AKTIVE program and curriculum will include preparing participants for various athletic events - training for triathlons, marathons, mountain climbs, etc. Clients will receive guidance towards the appropriate training to successfully complete any athletic event. As part of our mission, LIVING AKTIVE will cultivate a community of people training and participating in their chosen events together. What otherwise would be an individual activity now becomes a much more fulfilling group experience.

I reconnected with a fellow Equinox alumni from way back in the 1990’s. Robert Esquerre and I were some of the earliest staff that helped deliver exceptional service to equinox members that helped grow the business into the behemoth that it is now. We talked about the good ole days with the Erico family that started the company: Lavinia Errico Erico Erico Erico . Some stories may stay between us and Scott Gordon-Somers Annette Lang and co.
One of the pillars of health is social health. Reconnecting with the people who had a positive influence on our life trajectory. It was a pleasure to reconnect and reminisce.

These graphs show that the average person becomes isolated over time. As we get older, we spend less time with friends, partners, our children, our family, etc… we spend more time alone. Don’t let that be you! Your social health matters as much as your physical health, emotional health and intellectual health.

It’s so important to build muscle as you age. If you don’t build it, you lose it! Make an effort to lift weights at least twice a week.

Your health and happiness matters! Don’t get caught up in the daily grind. By the time you know it, life has passed you by. Life is short.

We all need a workout partner to keep us motivated and make it more enjoyable. These two have been friends for a very long time, they’ve been through many life experiences together including recent surgeries. That has not stopped them from continuing their exercise program.

What’s preventing you from being healthy? Make the effort to take small steps like stretching daily, daily walks, 20 minutes of exercise… something small everyday adds up. Don’t make it a big production.

Whenever I have an opportunity to eat Ghanaian food, moderation goes out the window. This meal: boiled plantain, spinach stew, “garden egg” stew and grilled fish would be on my list of last meals.
