Birdee's Flock Group dedicated to doing good for others in honor of Dee Phelan. At this time most events will be geared towards those battling various cancers.

Hi, my name is Brehyan Kurtz. I'm the daughter of Dee Phelan. My Mom was an avid quilter who lost her battle with cancer in August of 2016. My heart will forever be broken but I will continue to show love through her. My Mom never stopped quilting and kept accumulating fabric up to the very end. I will be using her fabric (and let me tell you there is plenty!!) and your quilting skills to love on cancer patients that are receiving chemotherapy treatments. Everything done will be done in memory of my Mom, Dee Phelan.

8am registration opens
9am 5K run
9:45am 2 mile walk

10:45am survivor recognition, team awards, and check presentation

The event will NOT be at Sanderson High School this year, they were unavailable on the date the city gave me, however, the Sertoma Arts Center has offered their location for hosting our event. The Sertoma Arts center is located at 1400 West Millbrook Rd. Raleigh, NC 27612, on the Shelley Lake Greenway where the run has always taken place. This year the walk will also be on the Shelley Lake Greenway instead of mostly on the streets surrounding Sanderson. I will have several links listed below to help with navigating this year’s event. Event parking will be located .2 of a mile away at the Raleigh Elks Lodge, 5538 Leadmine Rd. Raleigh, NC 27612, at the corner of Leadmine Rd and West Millbrook Rd. There will be plenty of signage but always try and carpool if you can, as parking will be limited! There will be 22 passenger minibuses continuously shuttling between these 2 locations. As always we will have Dunkin Donuts, our awesome DJ, kids area and PDQ to help make our day extra special. I am looking forward to the cooler weather and all the shade this location
