There is a great illustration in the Bible that I'm going to use to hopefully inspire you to get off your butt and get your Medicare AWV done. This and every year as allowed by Medicare.
The parable can be found the gospel of Luke chapter 13.
6Then Jesus used this illustration: "A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard. He went to look for fruit on the tree but didn't find any. 7He said to the gardener, 'For the last three years I've come to look for figs on this fig tree but haven't found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up [good] soil?' 8"The gardener replied, 'Sir, let it stand for one more year. I'll dig around it and fertilize it. 9Maybe next year it'll have figs. But if not, then cut it down.'"
A parable can be interpreted in many ways.. But I think it can illustrate negligence or attention to take care of any area in your life.
Health wise the effects could be premature ill health and early death.
The story takes another urgency, a life urgency when the fig tree is us and no fruit means you've abused your body and currently aren't doing much to make it healthier. Your not healthy and going down fast. When that year is your last year.
And it's you calling out for more time. Lord let me have one more year! I neglected my health, but if you give me 1 more year to extend my good health, turn things around and be there longer for my family.
The story is different when it's us, processing the doctor's last diagnoses that you need a surgery or you're going to die.
As with all good parables, not everyone will get it. And the wisdom comes in meditating on the story.
One action you can take in a wise health direction is get your annual wellness visit from medicare, it free and thorough enough to detect problems when their small and repairable.
