WOMEN BLAME MEN FOR CHILD MALNUTRITION
(Cultural Beliefs)
In explaining the mystery of malnourished children amidst healthy parents, BETTY KAKO, the district nutritionist, blames it on myths entrenched in society.

"Children are not supposed to eat fish and eggs because the community believes that such children may end up as mutes," she says.

Whereas such foods contain nutrients essential for child growth, they remain a preserve for the parents, a scenario KAKO blames for malnourished children.

She encouraged mothers to feed children on affordable but highly nutritious foods such as silver fish commonly known as mukene and green vegetables.
