Public Alert - Portsmouth Humane Society
"Marie A. Franco-Wisnewski, 55, of Portsmouth, filed a lawsuit last week against the nonprofit for injuries she sustained to her right index finger. The suit, which seeks $240,000 in damages, plus costs and interest, claims the shelter failed to properly restrain the pit bull, train him or otherwise make him less dangerous.
An attorney for the group, which the city pays more than $400,000 a year to run an animal shelter, did not respond to a request for comment. In court documents, however, he said the suit should be dismissed.
Among other things, David Abel argued Franco-Wisnewski was herself negligent and that the pit bull’s presence was “open and obvious.”
It is unclear what happened to the pit bull involved in the Oct. 14, 2018, incident. A police spokeswoman said Animal Control investigated the bite and did not pursue charges. She didn’t know where the dog went after quarantine."
The troubles come and the pit bulls go....someplace to act out again, and again. It's criminal. Glad this woman FILED A LAWSUIT. The Humane Society could care less about you, your kids, your actual pet, or your grandparents.
THEY. DON'T. CARE.

An attorney for the non-profit, which the city pays more than $400,000 a year to run an animal shelter, argues the woman was at least partially to blame for what happened.
