2024 HAS BEEN A RIDE!!

You know those years where so much has happened you are not sure where to start.

I think new years resolutions are tricky, but I also know it is a powerful tool to take a moment every now and again to check in and refocus.

The last 2 months have been exactly that for me. I've been quiet. I kept my energy close. I've been figuring some s**t out and questioning A LOT.

My world has moved more this year than it has in a long time. My life has come into focus because of some personal seismic shifts in perspective and it scared me.

I had to take some time. I needed to focus.

Taking time, whether it's a day or a month or longer, is the time when you make the plan. I think of it a little like hibernating.

Then, with plan in hand, you can move.

A reminder that your next step doesn't have to be now. Maybe you need a little more time.

BUT sometimes we also already know and just need to take a breath and the first brave step forwards.

Wherever you are today, sending love.

Happy New year you gorgeous lot 💛

⚠️emotional post warning⚠️

The last 50 days have been a huge journey.

I have covered 800 miles plus run my first marathon and still, if I'm honest, the moments of pain or pushing through can be nothing compared to why I did it.

I have no words. You were spectacular. My calf tightened in the second km, but the crowds, the absolutely insane views and all the moments of little me being in those places pulled me through...not to mention knowing my best support crew were there waiting for me... my wonderful dad .w.goode.1, my number 1 and my beautiful girls.

But this has meant so much more to me on a personal level. The last few months have been tough, but getting out of your comfort zone is a pretty magic place if you let it be.

Your body is more capable than you could ever believe. I am in awe of mine and every other person I had the privilege to run next to today. There were laughs, a lot of "you can do it", amazing tunes and the very best of everything that makes us human.

I couldn't be more grateful.

And for everyone who has taken the time to support me, sponsor me and have my back, I appreciate you more than you could possibly know.

Oscar, this was for you darling. The impact you had was undeniable. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Sometimes we have to take the action first and believe it second.

Sometimes we have to take the leap before we have the belief.

But if you can keep your heart open enough to the ‘maybe’ then you might just be surprised just how much potential you have.

Day 1 and I’m about to do something that really scares me.

6 years ago I made a promise to a little boy and his family to help raise money for a treatment programme as they were starting to run out of options.

Oscar was the same age as Bella and at 1 he received a diagnosis of stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma.

I pledged to cycle a mile for every day he had been fighting since his diagnosis. At that time it was about 720 miles.

It was a promise I could never fulfil because they received the devastating news that there was nothing else that could be done.

I need to fulfil my promise. So over the next 50 days I will cover 800 miles in his memory and to celebrate his 10th birthday.

September is childhood cancer awareness month and anything you can spare to support in this slightly crazy mission would be very appreciated.

I’m pretty petrified of letting anyone down, but whether I run, cycle, walk or crawl, I will get the 800 miles done.

Oscar, this is for you xx

Often we don’t see what is in the mirror. Not really!

We see our faults. We repeat them in our head. We tell ourselves we aren’t good enough.

Now, pause for a second… what happens to a child if you tell them they aren’t good at something over and over again? Do they get any better? Does their confidence grow? Do they feel valued?

NO

Now flip that… what happens when you tell them to keep going? That they are amazing? That they are getting better? That they have value? That you value them?

You get my point. Why do you think your brain will work by ignoring how brilliant you are? Sometimes you just have to look a bit harder because you’ve spent so long telling yourself you aren’t good enough… but what if you are!?

….and what would you say to you today? What do you need to hear?

How much do we overcomplicate food in our heads because it needs to look like way or contain this or because we have restricted or because we have to eat everything because tomorrow we are starting a diet that means we won’t ever be allowed to eat that food again because it is ‘bad’ 🤪

Some things to remember for the weekend:

💃 food can be eaten before after and during movement. It is ok to feel full and be around others

☀️ food definitely has a function for our cells first and foremost, but it is also meant to feed our soul

🦄 the rules and shoulds we have written for food that keeps us stuck and in cycles that are unhelpful ALWAYS have the chance to be changed…even if it has felt tough up until now.

Our relationships with food are often layered with lots of beliefs, pseudoscience, confused rules and a complete detachment from actual hunger and what our body needs.

My hope for you this weekend is that you take your time, breathe through your choices and they align with your hopes and moral codes for your life.

Body image is a very tough area for a lot of people and very closely linked to difficult relationships with food.

Somethings we often need to remember as a society IMO…

💃 their is no perfect body. How could we all exist in such different shapes and sizes that are totally fall in loveable if there was!?
🌈 how we speak to other people, how much we focus on their value coming from their aesthetics and how much value we put on it for ourselves reinforces this sucky cycle that it is where our value lies
👭body fashions change. That is how fickle the idea of the perfect body is. It isn’t real. It is a creation we are fed through images and brands who want us to buy their stuff.

You have value….end of!

I know we can tell ourselves a story sometimes, but sometimes we need to take a breath and think about the truth in what we are believing…

A little weekend reminder that life is a far bigger picture than visible abs.

*And if you are chasing them, have them or it is important to you then that’s awesome. Just be mindful about what you attach your worth to ❤️

You are always doing the best you can with the information you have…. I honestly believe that!

Today, you know more than you did yesterday. What you reacted to yesterday or were trying to deal with you can have a different view on today.

Sometimes we turn to coping mechanisms that are pretty immediate, but don’t feel great past the moment of instant relief from the feeling… food is a pretty easy example!

But it is just food ❤️

And today, tomorrow, next week, there is endless opportunity to take the new information you have and decide what you are going to do with it.

So as we go into this new week, where do you need more compassion? Where do you need to find a different way to last week? Where do you need to cheer for how well you did?

What’s the plan?

But before you do that, just forgive yourself for anything you are holding onto from the week just gone…you were doing the best you could and you are still bloody awesome!

We so often stress about the tiny details of our lifestyles, but how much do you think that thing you are stressing about right now matters in the context of the 365 days you have this year!?

It doesn’t darling one! It just doesn’t.

What matters are the bigger choices, the consistent intention and the chance to always look after yourself the best you possibly can (which FYI for most people involved chocolate!)

Let’s head into this week with the intention of healthy happiness over perfection! Be perfectly imperfect and enjoy doing it…. And I promise you it will make the whole process so much easier!
