Topical Corticosteroids: Friend or Foe?
The most important part of treating skin with eczema is to apply emollients. These are moisturisers, with varying amounts of oil-in-water combinations, that help hydrate the skin whilst simultaneously replacing the oily layer, restoring the barrier function of the skin, but are they friend or foe?

Allergy busters: Consuming small amounts of the trigger food can eliminate the allergy.
This is based on the idea that you can train your immune system to recognise the trigger as safe by exposing it to small amounts of the food. In specific situations there is some merit to this technique, but you should never do this without a physician recommending and monitoring the process, as it can be very dangerous if you have a severe reaction.

Allergy busters: I can’t be allergic to that.
Some people think that if they make it through childhood without developing any food allergies then they are out of the woods. However, food allergies can also develop in adulthood. This may be due to lack of exposure to a food, such as shellfish, in childhood or through cross-reactions with other allergies. This happens most commonly in people with pollen allergies who start to react to fruits and vegetables due to similarities between proteins in the pollen and the food.
