Bellingham Journal Club: Promoting Evidence in Practice

Bellingham Journal Club: Promoting Evidence in Practice Connecting PNW providers dedicated to EBP according to Sackett's definition (integrating current data, clinical experience, the client's story.)

Welcome to Bellingham's very own Journal Club page!

02/07/2024

Our goal is to have our Q1 Bellingham Journal Club: Promoting Evidence in Practice by the end of March 2024. If anyone is interested in leading a discussion and proposing 2 articles supporting the care intervention or evidence-based treatment of a condition, please reach out! This is a great community resource and although CorePhysio folks have organized in the past, we are happy to support voices in the community as well.

The next multidisciplinary journal club meeting will be on systemic hypermobility and associated factors. It speaks so beautifully to multiple disciplines with the cardiac/BP/MSK and pelvic floor factors common to these conditions.

It will be held on April 20th from 6-8 pm at Brandywine Cafe in Downtown Bham.

Do you have an article or case study to share on systemic hypermobility syndrome or Ehler's Danlos specific topics (for example musculoskeletal rx, POTS or prolapse) including treatment recommendations?

Would you be interested and able to come and present the case & evidence supporting Evidence based practice (EBP) and treatment?
Is the article(s) FREE online, and published within the last 5 years? Or a seminal article that is foundational to this condition?
Are you available on April 20th from 6-8 pm?
Do you like beer and food? It is available for purchase at Brandywine!

The format: Kick off with a chance to check your Beighton Scale rating 🙂 followed by 2-3 brief case study or EBP article discussions addressing the different conditions relating to this complex condition.

Once speakers are secured, we will post links to the articles on the Bellingham Journal page.

The Ask: Please reach out to me before April 10th if you would like to share a case and the topic. It would be great to get 2-3 different disciplines and walk away with some tractionable treatment ideas. Share this with fellow licensed providers and movement professionals in our community.

This as an opportunity to come together as a healing community and welcome any discipline to present evidence-based information, and the more active/interactive discussion and presentation, the better!

Here are the articles for Friday's Journal Pub Club at 1825 Grant Street/CorePhysio. Enter in the front door or we may have the gym door open for easy access. Please read in advance and feel free to bring a digital or print copy, as the trees asked us to avoid printed copies.

We are doing a trial of BYOB for folks to bring the age-appropriate beverage of their choice. Because of this, we are not promoting this publicly and considering this a casual after-hours gathering of (adults only) professionals. Please RSVP here, and thank you for your interest!

Once upon a time, in a land far away, there was this journal club that met over beers and had great conversations about multidisciplinary research and treatment of everything from concussion rehab to clinically defined lumbar instability.

The Journal Pub Club is alive and ready to resume!

Its been 3 years since our last meeting, and a great time to revive this great multidisciplinary learning opportunity. We have an outstanding Sportsmedicine doc ready to present, and just finishing up the details for a mid-June meeting in, most likely, a casual venue with large open doors.

More details to follow, including link to articles. Looking forward to safely getting back together again to share learning, a good IPA & great company. All disciplines welcome, including trainers, coaches, clinicians of all kinds, and students as well. Questions welcome!

Hello community friends. We hope you and your families are well amidst this wildness. One way we can help is to make an appointment to give blood. I know things are quite variable and unpredictable these days, but maybe we can at least donate blood. Stay safe and thank you all for your care of our community!

The Red Cross strongly urges healthy, eligible blood donors to schedule a donation to maintain a sufficient supply of blood products for those in need. The Red Cross is taking every measure to manage the safety of donors, volunteers, employees and blood recipients.
