We give support and friendship to each other and advocate for a greater number of services at a higher level of quality for those who have mental illness.

Supporting and improving the quality of life for family members and those living with mental illnesses and co-occurring substance abuse through compassion, education, and advocacy. Founded in 1987, the Jacksonville affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is an informal organization of people with mental illness and their family members and friends. Members share the knowledge gained through their own experiences – both successes and failures. Similar experiences foster supportive networks to assist those going through a time of crisis or heartache. When you attend a NAMI Jacksonville meeting you will only be asked to share your first name. The level of participation you engage in is your choice. You may ask questions, make comments or simply listen until the atmosphere of friendliness and sharing helps you talk about your own situation.

to participating in the ‘Every Woman. All Things.’ panel discussion hosted by Junior League Jacksonville.

The panel was moderated by our own Suzanne Mailloux and centered around the importance of mental health and avoiding mental overload and burnout for women serving in a caregiving role. NAMI Jacksonville’s Operation Manager, Cheryl Virta, also participated in the panel.

Thank you to Board Member Leigha Tipley for providing us with this opportunity and for always doing all you can to shine a light on why mental health is so important.
