It's the meaning we give things that affect us the most, rather than the situation itself.

How I get affected by something, whether negatively, positively, or indifferently, won't affect you, or June at work, or Bob down the road, in quite the same way.

We will all have different responses, actions, beliefs, and emotions about an exact same situation. And it's THOSE things that affect us inside and either keep us stuck or allow us to move forward.

These things are a big melting pot of nuances based on our experiences, and those of our ancestors up to 7 generations before us (intergenerational trauma,) our circumstances, our DNA, our brain function, our culture and society.

That's why you could have a set of twins or triplets in the same room, at the same time, all the same age, who experience the exact same trauma, yet each of them will be in completely different places mentally, emotionally and physically 20 years down the line.

Feel the things, allow the emotions, and validate the severity of what you may have been through.

Sometimes life sucks and things aren't fair. The heaviness can weigh you down it feels impossible to get up. Life can throw awful things at us that we have no control over. They hurt, and they can cause damage. Sit with it. Allow it.

But at some point, you have to stand up and move. Don't live there, don't be consumed, you have to take control of how you are going to respond to these things that life has thrown, and it's only you who can do that.

Instead, unpick it, be curious, and most of all do it with compassion.

Forge your own path of healing, be the victor, not the victim, and keep moving forward ✨️

Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right 🧠

And it's not just about thinking the thought, but feeling it deeply. Feeling it in your bones, under your skin, within your nervous system 🧘‍♀️

That inner knowing.

But, the thought and belief is what leads you there in the first place. 💭

What you believe can be make or break, it can mean success or failure, or even worse than all of it, it means you not trying at all, staying in that familiar comfort zone with little growth, the one your subconscious mind and nervous system created over the years to protect you, which may be true at times, but often it just holds you back ❌️

And from that belief, you take action. It may be weird, uncomfortable, and probably terrifying. You may find all the reasons why you can't or shouldn't. You'll even try and go back on that belief and justify why you can't, because that's what the subconscious does to keep you 'safe' 🕳

But you must always take action. Knowledge is only powerful when it's applied 🎬

So what thought or belief of yourself or situation will you work on today to change some part of your life and wellbeing for the better? 👀

*Enjoy the little moments today, whatever they are*

I was speaking with a client the other day about floating over life, almost watching it pass by, knowing it's happening but not really LIVING it at the time, missing the smaller things while looking forward to the bigger ones, or just becoming consumed and burnt out by the daily stresses and grind, which has different nuances for everyone.

Then this morning, while doing some Sunday pottering such as making coffee, emptying the dishwasher, sniffling all over the place with the lurgy - you know, those normal "boring" things, I was listening to Beautiful Boy by John Lennon, and he says

🎵 Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans 🎵

So remember that this Sunday, whatever you're doing.

Take a breath, ground yourself, and celebrate all the small wins you've had this week. It is great looking forward with plans, but don't forget where you are now 🙌

This may be the last ever Relax & Reset class, so if you've been thinking about it doing it, just DO IT 😉 there are limited spaces too, so grab your space sooner rather than later.

Today marks what would be my mum's 77th birthday 💓🎉

This photo was taken by one of her friends on a girls holiday, aged 20. The same age I was when we sadly lost her.

January 3rd marked 20 years of her passing. Quite remarkable really, and hard to believe at time, it feels like yesterday.

I was speaking about her with my friend Janette last week, and there was a sadness about so many opportunities she didn't grab with both hands, because of time, money or simply looking after everyone else. One big one was turning down creative director with Zandra Rhodes for one (!) Urm what?! But she had her reasons.

So, in her honour I'll make damn sure I'll be grabbing all that come to me, that work for me, and that make my heart sing.

I managed to grab 5 mins where her ashes are scattered today, and spring is definitely springing down there.

Happy birthday to her ❤️

I'll get straight to the point 👉 if you’re not taking time to breathe, calm your mind and body, eat properly, move your body, nurture your mental health or learn to say no, form boundaries and honour your own needs, then you'll be on the road to burnout, with no fuel and a damaged vessel.

If you're not sleeping properly, irritable, stressed, anxious, have difficulty regulating your emotions and can't see the wood for the trees, you're probably living on autopilot in survival mode, or fight or flight.

Forget working late, forget the pub, or trash TV that you'll watch like a zombie - come along to my Relax & Reset session Friday 9th February 7.30-8.30pm to calm your mind and body - give yourself this necessary time to focus on you and your health.
