Prodromal labor can feel confusing… especially when contractions feel real but don’t seem to “go anywhere.”

This phase is more common than many realize, and while it can be tiring, it often means your body is preparing and working behind the scenes.

If you’re experiencing this, you’re not doing anything wrong — your body may just need more time and support 🤍
Prodromal labor (prelabor) 🌙
what it can look like

✨ contractions that come and go
✨ patterns that start… then stop
✨ often stronger at night
✨ can last hours or days
✨ feels like “this should be labor”

This can be confusing and exhausting — and it’s very real 🤍
How common is it + what is it doing?

Prodromal labor is very common
especially with:
– first babies
– posterior positioning
– bodies that need more time to coordinate

Your body is:
🌿 softening the cervix
🌿 helping baby move into position
🌿 preparing for active labor

It’s not wasted — it’s part of the process 🌙

How many of you have experience prodromal labor? 🌙💕

Postpartum anxiety and depression don’t always look obvious.

Sometimes they exist quietly… beneath the surface, while everything else appears “okay.”

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or not like yourself — you are not alone.

Support is available, and you deserve care too 🤍

As a midwife, this is something I see often and hold with care. 🌙✨

There is something sacred about the way birth asks us to slow down, to listen, to soften into the moment.

At Dear Moon, we believe birth is not something to rush through or manage—it is something to honor. Every breath, every wave, every quiet pause in between carries meaning. When we approach birth with presence and reverence, it becomes more than a physical experience—it becomes a deeply human, heart-opening transformation.

To honor birth is to create space for love to live in the room.
It is soft voices, gentle hands, steady support.
It is trusting the process, trusting the body, and most of all, trusting the mother.

Because when birth is held with intention, safety, and care…
it becomes something remembered not just for how it felt in the body,
but for how it touched the soul. 🌙

There is something sacred about building a team in midwifery.

Birth has never been meant to be held by one set of hands alone. It has always lived in community — in steady presence, quiet knowing, and shared devotion to the mother and baby.

Dear Moon Midwifery is growing, and with that growth comes the honor of welcoming women whose hearts are deeply aligned with this work.

Kara brings a grounded and nourishing presence as my assistant and herbal nutritionist. Her understanding of the body, of plants, and of the deep connection between nourishment and pregnancy allows our clients to feel supported in a way that is both practical and deeply holistic.

Kaitlyn offers gentle, intuitive care as a doula. She meets families with softness, steadiness, and respect — helping mothers feel safe, seen, and held through every stage of their journey.

Together, we are creating something intentional. Care that is not rushed. Care that listens. Care that surrounds each family with presence, skill, and trust.

My belief has always been that midwifery is not just about clinical skill, but about building a circle of support strong enough to hold every mother fully.

It is an honor to walk this path together.
