Practically Paleo A mathematics teacher's journey following Crossfit and a Paleo lifestyle. I had been suffering with stomach issues for almost six years at that point.

In April 2010, I read Food Rules by Michael Pollan http://www.amazon.com/Food-Rules-Eaters-Michael-Pollan/dp/014311638X/ref=pd_sim_b_1, and began thinking more about what I ate. I had tried cutting out dairy and wheat -- neither had helped. In August of 2010 I finally figured out what had been making me sick -- tomatoes! I love(d) tomatoes and I used to eat them every day. I did a bit of research and realized that I was nightshade intolerant http://www.marksdailyapple.com/nightshades/. So no more tomatoes for me! In October 2010, I went strict Paleo for 30 days after reading The Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf http://www.amazon.com/Paleo-Solution-Original-Human-Diet/dp/0982565844/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1319390321&sr=8-1 -- no wheat, no sugar, no dairy, no eggs. I slowly added back eggs, then dairy in November to see how my body reacted to them. Neither affected me as much as nightshades, so I continue to eat them now. I try to cut out wheat and sugar, but honestly I still eat some -- hence the name PRACTICALLY Paleo! I am also currently working out at a Crossfit gym twice a week and try to add in two more workouts per week. Twitter: suzaypaleo

Another great breakfast -- this time it's before the final day of f(x) 2015! I love staying at airbnb's so that I can cook / put together my own food. I know every ingredient. Today it's sausages, organic super greens, organic avocado, and red beet and cabbage

I don't agree with all of the recommendations, but I am happy to see several shifts in the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services' experts suggestions.

"The 15-person advisory committee's new recommendations are emblematic of an essential ongoing shift in approaches to eating: focusing on whole foods, as opposed to avoiding or endorsing specific macronutrients (carbs, fat, or protein). Where nutrients are mentioned in the committee's recommendations, there are a few notable moves. Cholesterol in food is no longer cause for concern—vindicating the once-forsaken egg yolk and its arbitrary "62-percent daily value" of cholesterol, as current nutrition labels read. Only certain kinds of dietary fat (trans and saturated) are to be minimized, and whole grains are—starkly counter to the national trend in low-carb and gluten-averse ideologies—second only to fruits and vegetables as the most "health-promoting" foods that a person can eat."

What do you think of the shifts in recommendations?
