The EWC Medical Scholarship is honored to award another scholarship, through our Endowment with the RI Foundation, to a graduating student of The Met High School. We are happy to announce Hadayza Rodriguez Garcia as the 2025 recipient!
Hadayza will be attending Simmons University with plans to participate in the 3+3 accelerated program. This program will allow her to study Health, Exercise Science, and Physical Therapy. Their long-term goals are to pursue their passion for women’s sports and become a Sports Physiotherapist. While attending The Met Hadayza completed an internship with Saint Anne’s Hospital in their Diagnostic Imaging department, participated in the MIT Critical Care Datathon event, partnered with the Parent Support Network of RI for a project, and interned with multiple physical therapists who focused on rehabilitation, optimal function, and post-operations. Her various projects involved researching Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome, AI Sciences, Children’s Healthcare, Orthopedics for student athletes, and developed an anatomy and physiology curriculum. In addition to these experiences, Hadayza has also acted as Captain to her Junior Varsity Volleyball Team, President of the Competitive Stock Pitch Club, completed more than 136 hours of community services, and built a peer tutoring and translating program within her building to strengthen support for students, staff and families. These are just a few examples of her accomplishments so far.
Hadayza, your research, work experiences and projects have shown true dedication to the vast world of healthcare, your communities and passion for women's sports. Your confidence and enthusiasm will guide you in your future. Congratulations!
Thank you to everyone who makes the Elayne Walker-Cabral Medical Scholarship possible and honors Ms. Elayne’s memory each day.
