WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT MAMMOGRAPHY.

Mammography plays a critical part in diagnosing breast cancer. In the past, we'd often find that a woman had breast cancer when she came in with a lump. Mammography procedures helps in early detection of early stage of cancer, and can help in quick medical intervention.
Five important things to know about mammograms
1. They can save your life. Finding breast cancer early reduces your risk of dying from the disease by 25-30% or more. Women should begin having mammograms yearly at age 40, or earlier if they're at high risk.
2. Don't be afraid. Mammography is a fast procedure (about 20 minutes), and discomfort is minimal for most women. The procedure is safe: there's only a very tiny amount of radiation exposure from a mammogram. To relieve the anxiety of waiting for results, go to a center that will give you results before you leave.
3. Get the best quality you can. If you have dense breasts or are under age 50, try to get a digital mammogram. A digital mammogram is recorded onto a computer so that doctors can enlarge certain sections to look at them more closely.
4. Bring your past mammogram films/results with you. If you’ve been to the same facility before, make sure your past results are available to whoever is reading the study.
5. Once you find a facility you have confidence in, try to go there every year, so that your mammograms can be compared from year to year.
In conclusion, you can always walk into our facility at HARMONY ADVANCE DIAGNOSTIC CENTER, ASA DAM ROAD, ILORIN, to make inquiries about breast examination and mammography screening, its cheap affordable and with best medical experts you can find around. For further inquiries and information;

In fact, problems from back pain are the most common physical complaints among young adults. Back pain includes sore muscles and tendons, herniated discs, fractures, and other problems. Most often, the causes of back pain have developed over a long period of time.
Back pain ranks high on the list of self-inflicted ailments. Most of our back troubles happen because of bad habits, generally developed over a long period of time. These bad back habits include:

Poor posture
Overexertion in work and pl***oy
Sitting incorrectly at the desk or at the steering wheel
Pushing, pulling, and lifting things carelessly

Sometimes, the effects are immediate but, in many cases, back problems develop over time. if backaches occur for no apparent reason, this is called non-specific backache. It may develop from weakened muscles that cannot handle everyday walking, bending, and stretching. In other cases, the discomfort seems to come from general tension, lack of proper sleep, and/or stress.

Therefore, get the facts on your back pain, check your self today in a well-equipped diagnostic centre like Ours to know what exactly is the problem on time before it is too late. KADC - your health matters...

What is high Cholesterol ?

Cholesterol is a type of fat (lipid) in your blood. Your cells need cholesterol, and your body makes all it needs. But you also get cholesterol from the food you eat.
If the cholesterol level is high in the body , it starts to build up in the arteries (blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart) which causes Hardening of the Arteries. This condition is a slow process and it gets worse as one gets older. Note that cholesterol starts to rise at the age of 20 years in some people with family history.
To understand what happens, think about how dirt clogs a pipe under a kitchen sink. Like the build-up of grease in the pipe, this build up of fats in the arteries narrows it and makes it difficult for blood to flow through very well, and this will prevent blood flowing to various part of the body, tissues etc, including the brain which can lead to serious problems of heart attack and stroke.
High cholesterol does not make one feel sick. By the time it is noticed , it might have narrowed the arteries. So, it is very important and advisable to start treatment even if an individual feels OK.
To measure your cholesterol, it requires a blood test from a standard, reputable and reliable Diagnostic Centre. Therefore, do not wait until you are down with all the disease conditions that shorten the life span.

BMI stands for “Body Mass Index,” a ratio between weight and height. Its a tool for helping you judge your body weight and the amount of body fat you have.
For older adults, the BMI normal range is 18-25. The higher the BMI number above the normal range (18-25), the greater the degree of overweight. Generally speaking an adult BMI of 27 is considered overweight and 30 or above is severely overweight.
People with a higher percentage of body fat tend to have a higher BMI except for body builders, competitive athletes, whose BMI is high due to a relatively larger amount of muscles, also its not applicable to pregnant women, lactating mothers.
Carrying excess body fat, not muscle, puts you at greater risk for health problems such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and stroke.

For many of us, screening results can serve as a wake-up call. Higher than optimal cholesterol or body mass index for example, may drive home the message that it’s time to modify your diet and get more physical activity. When the test comes back and you see abnormal numbers, it becomes personal. Suddenly, the idea of making lifestyle changes isn't just a recommendation in a pamphlet. It’s something that can impact your life and health positively.
Likewise, high blood sugar and high cholesterol levels often do not produce any symptoms until the disease becomes advanced. So, stop and check yourself today at Kwara Advanced Diagnostic Center....... YOUR HEALTH MATTERS

Blood pressure is one of the most important screenings to early detect cardiovascular diseases, because high blood pressure has no symptoms so cannot be detected without being measured. High blood pressure greatly increases your risk of heart disease and stroke. If your blood pressure is below 120/80 mm Hg, you have a low risk of having a condition related to cardiovascular diseases. If your blood pressure is higher, your doctor may want to check it more often. High blood pressure can be controlled through lifestyle changes or medication. After age 65, women have a higher risk of high blood pressure than men, few of us have ideal risk levels on all screening tests. However, if you do have test results that are less than ideal, it doesn’t mean you’re destined to develop a serious cardiovascular disease. On the contrary, it means you’re in position to begin changing your health in a positive way....to be continued

The best way to treat a disease is to prevent it. according to WHO standard, it is advisable from the ages of 30 and 49, to often visit medical institution for preventative health screenings, your primary health-care provider can recommend specific tests that can aid in the early detection of the most common and treatable diseases.
A majority of Africans, in the prime of their lives, often mistakenly assume there will be plenty of time to worry about their health. Sadly, for some, that time may not come. One of the many “silent” killers could present at any time.
Scary as it is, if you are one of those proactive individuals who schedules an annual routine health exam and follows the recommended screening protocols, a silent disease will most likely be detected in the early stages. And the earlier the better, as there are typically a greater number of treatment options and significantly better outcome percentages when conditions and illnesses are diagnosed early.
Finally, a foundation for long term health, is to schedule either an annual, bi- annual or tri- annual wellness exam. If individuals are active in their health through exams and education on illnesses and risk factors, many common illnesses could be prevented or significantly postponed.
