Happy World Laughter Day! 17 years ago I founded the first laughter club in the South Island, second one in NZ. Laughter Yoga has done more for my mental health than anything else - the combination of breathwork, connection to body and mind, the release of feel good hormones, connection to people who I share deep friendships with as a result of laughter yoga and the ability to reach a state of high frequency is not lost on me. Yesterday afternoon I was invited onto a marae to share laughter yoga at a hui for families affected by su***de. It was quite overwhelming and confronting at times – for myself and for some of the participants, but when we got to the end, the place where our hearts expand with joy and our minds leave our bodies, I was reminded of the gentle power we have within us to lean into what makes us feel vulnerable. Yes it’s uncomfortable, it’s also life changing. Thank you for bringing laughter yoga to the world. That weekend in 2007 indeed changed my life 🙏💗
