Time for some smelly talk!

I am a deodorant ADDICT. Maybe a perfume, body lotion, shampoo, overall “pretty body smell” addict.

I do not like to smell like anything other than roses.

That said, I struggled for yearsssss with wanting to move away from aluminum and chemicals. However, I always found that nothing ever worked.

It was super easy to spray on my 12 hour deodorant/antiperspirant and go on with my day. As opposed to feeling like I needed to reapply every 2 hours (or more if out in the sun).

Finally after hearing so many good things about Native, I decided to give it another try. I completely stopped all other deodorants and haven’t looked back.

I learned that it can take several days for your body to detox from the chemicals and a slight odor was to be expected.

After the initial few weeks, I have had zero regrets.

I absolutely love that I am using clean products that are much better for more body and long term health.

We now solely use Native for body wash, deodorant, sunscreen, and toothpaste.

And.. the best part, aside from the clean ingredients obviously, is that they smell amazing!!!!!

Life challenges us in many ways.

Life isn’t meant to be easy. Even those who we may view as having “easy” lives, struggle with their own obstacles.

No one is immune to life.

But would we want to be?

Would we want to coast through life never really having to try, do, learn, grow? How would we ever get stronger? How would we ever deal with anything if we were never tested?

Life tests us everyday and we must understand the value in these lessons.

Find your silver lining… I choose to learn, grow, and be stronger.

I choose to embrace my experiences and breathe through them.

I may not be able to control everything, but I can control how I choose to react. ❤️

💥 Cute dog alert! 💥
But also, (and )

If someone had told me the flood gates that oils would open for me, I wouldn’t have believed them.

And here I am, 2 or so years later, living the cleanest life I’ve ever lived. And I didn’t think I could feel THIS GOOD.

Throughout my fertility journey, I have made and developed lifelong changes while breaking some of the worst, most toxic habits.

From deodorant addicted to candle obsessed, I have been able to successfully find healthier, non-toxic solutions.

Even better yet, my entire skincare and makeup routine are now completely toxin free. And I have never felt more radiant.

I cannot wait to share all of my tips and my favorite products with y’all. So buckle in, I’m about to blow your minds! 🤗I hope you’ll follow along as I share this exciting journey!

Featured on today’s edition of Fertility Foods, we are going to be talking about Granola!
• Did you know that done correctly, your granola can become a fertility powerhouse?

Let’s talk about some basics!

• Coconut oil: while not appropriate for everyone, this can help to decrease inflammation in the body. Inflammation is a huge struggle for most women going through fertility treatment(s). Coconut oil also contains fatty acids; fatty acids are essential building blocks within the body. They have even been shown to protect and repair s*x cell DNA against toxins.
• Cranberries: not just for UTIs! cranberries are a rich source of vitamin C that can provide benefits to both egg and s***m health. They have also been shown to help improve production of cervical mucus in women (so important!).
• Pepitas: these are loaded with zinc! Zinc is a trace mineral that not only helps our body to fight off germs, but has also been shown to help the body build proteins and DNA (such as in the case of a developing baby) and also helps a woman’s body to properly utilize estrogen and progesterone (again, so important as these are vital hormones!).
• Sunflower Seeds: these little nuggets contain zinc, folic acid, and selenium (all beneficial for fertility!). Not only do they also contain protein, but they are also a great source of vitamin E. Vitamin E has been shown to positively support nerve cells, red blood cells, liver function, and the immune system.

Stay tuned for more tips!

Fertility

It wasn’t until a recent experience that I learned the impact of nutrition not only during pregnancy or right before, but months in advance. Yes, I said months! Now while most of you may be thinking, but didn’t you know that? As a dietitian you should know these sorts of things. And while I knew the significant role that nutrition can and does play in perinatal nutrition, what I didn’t realize was that it was so much more than that.

It was more than eating right once you found out. It was more than trying to clean up your diet and eating habits just before trying to conceive. It was cleaning up everything around you.

I began reading It Starts with the Egg and soon came to find out the potential impact of our environment on our ability to reproduce.

Infertility isn’t talked about. I find that a lot of women feel embarrassed and ashamed of not being able to so easily reproduce. But why? Why are we hiding this from each other?

I have followed many influencers who have been an inspiration; a voice to share the things that we {all} feel but won’t say out loud.

And there are so many more women struggling with this than you might even believe. Roughly 10% of women in the US struggle to get and/or stay pregnant.

This is a HUGE part of our society. There are countless women and families yearning for a child and yet, they are struggling.

I felt this intense pull to research and put my skills to work. I feel so connected to this group of women and I cannot wait to begin helping them to create miracles of their own.

While I won’t be leaving behind peds, eating disorders, or diabetes and weight management, I am thrilled to focus on something I am so deeply passionate about.

As women, we don’t want to admit that there might be something out of our control… or so one might think.

Truth is, there is so much more science behind this than you can even imagine. And I can’t wait to be able to share this passion. ❤️

💥 BOOM 💥
Sometimes things just don’t work out as you planned...

Being a type A means that I plan and I plan and I plan, but there are just some things you can’t plan for... there are unanticipated road blocks, barriers, and obstacles.

Sometimes I just need to know when it’s time to change my path. My goal hasn’t changed but the road there, may be looking different.

And that is okay. ❤️
