BARAMULLA POLICE APPREHENDED FOUR DRUG USERS; NARCOTIC PARAPHERNALIA RECOVERED

Baramulla | April 24, 2026

Continuing its efforts against drug abuse under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Baramulla Police apprehended four drug users during routine naka checking at Wussan Crossing.
An Alto vehicle bearing registration number JK05D-8764, coming from Dhobiwan towards Wussan, was intercepted for checking. During questioning, the occupants appeared suspicious and were unable to satisfactorily account for themselves.
Upon search of the vehicle, syringes with needles, silver foil and other narcotic paraphernalia were recovered and seized on the spot as per procedure.
All four individuals were shifted to hospital for medical examination, where they tested positive for consumption of opioids, likely he**in, subject to confirmation through forensic analysis.
The accused have been identified as:
1.Khalid Ahmed Khan S/o Nazir Ahmed Khan R/o Katipora Tangmarg
2.Tanveer Ahmad Sofi S/o Abdul Majeed Sofi R/o Sheikhpora Khreeri
3.Bilal Ahmad Bhat S/o Gh. Nabi Bhat R/o Gutlipora Tangmarg
4.Imtiyaz Ahmad Magray S/o Bashir Ahmad Magray R/o Mirchipora Tangmarg
In this regard, FIR No. 46/2026 under Sections 8/27-29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police station Kunzer and all accused have been arrested.

Anti-Drug Enforcement Drive Continues in Sopore under Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan; Chronic Bootlegger/Drug Peddler Arrested.

Sopore, April 23, 2026:
In continuation of the ongoing anti-drug enforcement drive under the 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Sopore Police apprehended a chronic bootlegger and drug peddler during patrolling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Bus Stand Sopore.

During patrolling at Nehalpora–Shalpora Road, near a local graveyard, a suspicious individual carrying a bag attempted to conceal himself upon noticing the police party. Acting swiftly, the police team apprehended the individual on the spot.

Upon search of the bag, alcohol (liquor bottles) and codeine-based syrup were recovered and seized as per due procedure.

The accused has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Ganie, S/O Gh. Nabi Ganie, R/O Langate.

Accordingly, FIR No. 98/2026 under Sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act and Sections 48, 50 of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation has been taken up.

It is pertinent to mention that the accused is a chronic offender, involved in multiple FIRs of bootlegging and drug-related offences.

Sopore Police reiterated that strict enforcement against drug peddlers and bootleggers continues across the district and such habitual offenders will be dealt with firmly under law.

Sopore Police reaffirmed their commitment under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to dismantle drug networks and ensure a safer, healthier and drug-free society.

Three Terror Sympathisers Arrested, 7 AK Rifles Recovered in Poonch: IGP Jammu

Srinagar, Sep 14 (KNC): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti, on Sunday said that security forces have achieved a major success in Poonch with the arrest of three terror sympathisers and the recovery of seven AK rifles along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

In a post on X, the IGP Jammu on its handle as per news agency Kashmir News Corner --- KNC worte termed it “a fantastic investigation” by Jammu and Kashmir Police, praising the team for its perseverance that led to the breakthrough.

“Dogged determination and relentless investigation has resulted in the arrest of 03 terror sympathisers, recovery of 07 AKs (04 recovered earlier) and a large quantity of warlike stores,” reads the post. (KNC)
