📢 Oregon labs!
Do you have lab staff (Phlebotomists, TLAs) who would make great additions to your MLT workforce? This three-year apprenticeship program allows labs to train and retain their own future MLTs on-site while employees complete related coursework through Portland Community College’s NAACLS-accredited curriculum.
Apprentices are paid employees who train step-by-step across all major lab areas (chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, blood bank, and more) while earning their Associate of Science degree. The program meets CLIA standards for moderate and high-complexity testing and prepares participants to take the ASCP MLT Certification Exam (Route 4) upon completion.
It’s a cost-effective workforce investment—labs pay apprentices’ wages on the BOLI scale, and apprentices cover the cost of their coursework (approximately $5,000 per year).
