Commitment – Voluntary/ Part-time

Do you care about your local community and want to help to make a real difference?
Beacon is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company dedicated to supporting local residents with free accessible advice and information on key issues such as benefits, housing, debt, employment rights and community wellbeing. Beacon also undertake Deprivation of Liberty work and run two Neighbourhood Mental Health Cafes in the area.
We are seeking a Non- Executive Director to join our Board and help to shape the
strategic direction of our organisation.
As a Non- Executive Director, you will:
Support and challenge the Executive Team to ensure strong governance and
accountability.
Help guide the strategic growth and sustainability of our service.
Bring a fresh perspective and community-focused insight to Board discussions.
Act as an ambassador for the CIC and support its outreach in the local area.
This is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Board meetings are typically held quarterly, with occasional involvement between meetings.
What We’re Looking For:
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. You don’t need previous board experience- we value lived experience, commitment to the community, and a passion for
social impact.
We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:
The public sector or local government.
Community development.
Charity or social enterprise governance.
Legal, financial, HR or communications expertise.
