This week, the U.S Surgeon General released a Youth Mental Health Advisory aimed at combating the mental health crisis our youth are facing. The advisory acknowledges that mental health challenges in our children and young people are widespread, and has been exacerbated by the pandemic. The advisory calls for a swift, coordinated, whole-of-society response to the nation’s crisis. It lays out recommendations for how individuals ,families, communities, governments, and others can better support youth mental health needs.

Although we have known of this crisis, and have been fighting for youth mental health and wellness for a long time, we applaud the U.S Surgeon General’s advisory. We are happy that a national spotlight has been placed on youth mental health and wellness, and glad that we are being called to action.
