Good morning, my friends.

“Summer and Winter” was the title of my devotional today. Scripture reference Psalm 74:16-17.

Do you remember the lyric “summer time, when the living is easy” or “summer and winter, springtime and harvest…great is thy faithfulness”?

My late husband dreaded winter. When we lived on a farm, it was more work & early mornings/late nights in the cold temperatures or snow. After the farm, he still worked for the county and was responsible for snow removal; thus, not helping the winter dread. It wasn’t until we moved to the woods that winter seemed to be less of a dread and more of peaceful serenity.

Together, we learned that fresh snowfall can lighten our spirits and the bleakness of the winter gray. Warm glows from fires soften the blows of the trials and battles we fight. When looking at life through spiritual eyes, I see The Way, The Truth and The Life…in fresh snow, warm glowing light even in the winter seasons that last longer than a few months at a time.

So, find hope in the snow-covered days of your winter season of life, look for His footprints in the snow, lean on his promises and trust that the life you are living will be abundant because of who God was, is and shall forever be!

I really love the book “Win the Day”…I like good quotes and applicable references. This book is weighty, in a very good way. Makes you stop and think about how to improve the way you live, especially when we are “set in our ways”.

So to everyone who wants a good basic way to begin “habit stacking”, here you go!

This is also said by most every mother, as well.
Maybe not to change the world, which I love and will share as a quote now, but it is serious how we think and see the things we do as valued steps to a bigger goal.

I love the story about a man who wanted to get healthy and started with the goal of 1 push-up a day….he became a runner! Yeah…who saw that coming?!

Because your identity is not reflected from the scales you stand on, the tag in your jeans, or any other number you want to place on yourself….I ask you this.

Challenge: If you never stepped on the scales again, what would it help? What is it hurting by doing do daily? Weekly? Monthly?

Secret: I don’t own scales. I step on scales twice a year at wellness visits or when I see one at a family members house and I’m curious. Which I am losing my curiosity the older I get as there are many ways to “weigh” fitness/health.

Are you focusing on your faith, feeding your soul and body well and then staying fit in your mind, body, soul and spirit?

Your identity is more than a number. I hope today’s devotion helps.

A good word because it’s important to remember we get a new start not just today but every 24 hours! God’s mercies are new every morning. Perhaps the real thing to strive to learn…learn to accept this daily gift and move forward.
Make 2022 better because you think better! It’s a good option.
