Qualitas, an Israeli company, was nominated for a prestigious industry award--NEXTY. This puts the innovation developed in Israel at the forefront of the health and natural product industry.

The nomination is for revolutionary innovation developed in Israel: omega-3s, the heart-healthy fats, that come from algae instead of fish or krill. Vegetarian, sustainable and kosher.

Feel free to share with your friends who might be excited about innovation news from Israel and health / healthy products.

Thanks for your help after this long hiatus.

Tonight starts Memorial Day in Israel. 24 hours later, on Monday night, we will begin our celebration of Independence Day. From the sadness of sacrifice to the happiness of independence. The transition from one to the other makes us remember how intertwined these themes are.

At 8 P.M. a one-minute siren will sound throughout the country, marking the official opening of Memorial Day, followed by commemoration ceremonies.

It's Good Friday! Thousands of Christians have flocked to Jerusalem for celebrations that will continue on through Easter Sunday. Here's last year's photo album documenting the proceedings in the Christian Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City.

Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The church was built on the location, according to Christian tradition, this is the Hill of Calvary, where Jesus was crucified, buried and resurrected. In the 4th century, Constantine built a church on this site.

Passover Question 3: On all other nights, we don't dip even once. On this night we dip twice.

At the seder, we dip a vegetable that grows in the ground (traditions vary -- commonly parsley, celery or potato) in salt water and then dip the bitter herb into "charoset," a sweet paste made usually made from some combination of fruit, nuts and wine.

Here are the makings of salt water!

Passover is right around the corner! A key element of the seder -- the festive Passover meal that includes retelling the story of the Jews' exodus from Egypt -- is the "Four Questions." The four questions are traditionally asked by the youngest at the seder and highlight the differences between "this night and all other nights."
Question 1: On all other nights, we eat leavened or unleavened bread. On this night, we eat only unleavened bread [matzah].
