It’s National Gardening Day!

Every spring my family plants a garden and it’s one of my most favorite things. I love being able to eat the food that we tend to and grow on our own. Every time, we eat something from our garden I know it’s been made with love!

There are numerous health benefits from growing a garden:
💚Relieves stress
💚Provides a great workout
💚Boosts your immune system
💚Growing your own food can help you eat healthier
💚Gives you hope for the future
💚Nourishes your spirit

I encourage you to plant a garden even if it’s just a tomato plant. Even with the shelter in place, we have been able to order and pick up our garden items at curb side pick up.

We may be seeing more “protein bowls” in our future!
This baby is packed with so many micro and macronutrients. I’d say this is a balanced macro meal. My healthy carbs are sweet potato, russet potato, kidney beans, bell peppers and tomato. My healthy fats and protein are sunflower seeds, olive oil dressing, bacon, steak, chia seeds, flax seeds, and nutritional yeast.
When in doubt, throw all your healthy whole food in a bowl on top of kale, spinach, romaine lettuce. Try to add as many veggies as possible. It’s that simple and we teach you that in The FASTer Way To Fat Loss along with other strategies.

This is me eating plant based. I may have burned my garden burger a bit but this meal tastes so delicious. 😝Garden Burger, quinoa, kale, spinach, bell peppers, tomatoes and celery.

This Roasted Chickpea recipe is so simple and packs a macronutrient punch!🤜
- 6 cups garbanzo beans
- 2 tbsp extra olive oil
- 1 tsp Himalayan Sea Salt
- 1/2 tsp Pepper
Set oven to 400 F’ and bake in oven for 20 minutes tossing halfway through. Add to salads or have as a snack.

Isn’t it miraculous that we get to choose? We get to wake up each morning and choose the person we want to be, the goals we want to accomplish, and the thoughts we want to focus on. We get that right and privilege. Don’t underestimate the power of choice!

Oatmeal Delight!
1/2 cup of gluten free oats
1cup of almond milk
1 Tbsp of Chia Seeds
Handful of Blueberries
1/2 Banana
2 Tbsp Raisins
Handful of walnuts
Pour almond milk over oats and chia seeds and let sit for a half hour then add the rest of the ingredients.

I am my own competitor. 🙌

My goal is to get better each day and beat the goals I set the day before. My goal is to keep it simple.

I have a Peloton and had an Orange Theory Membership and I love both, but I wasn’t seeing the results that I wanted. I needed something more. I always heard the saying, “it’s 80% nutrition and 20% exercise.” I never liked that because working out was the easy part for me.😉

Obviously, my nutrition needed some fine tuning. I couldn’t JUST work out anymore and eat/drink whatever I wanted and get results like I had when I was younger.

Then I found The FASTer Way to Fat Loss. It was the missing puzzle piece for me. I learned how to strategically eat and work out along with intermittent fasting and changing my mindset about health and wellness.

Can you relate?

I now have structure and a focus. I now give myself “grace” if I get off track. I practice “progress over perfection!” I have learned about whole food nutrition and mindset. I have learned to love this amazing body and mind of mine. I have learned to love myself for who I am and for who I am not!

I would have missed this!😔

One year ago you would not have caught me in the ocean, in the middle of winter, in my two-piece bathing suit.

I would have missed this MOMENT with my child.

It’s been one year that I’ve lived the FASTer Way lifestyle and it’s been one of the best things I’ve ever done. I now have energy, joy and confidence about the person I’m becoming at this stage in my life.

Did you know I tried Jenny Craig when I was in 6th grade?😳⠀

I begged, I mean absolutely begged my Mom to let me do it. I didn’t let up until she agreed. Now as a parent and looking back, I put her in a really tough position. She hated to see me upset from being teased and she also wanted me to know how beautiful I was no matter my size. It was a hard time. I would come home crying from being teased and called names like “Little Debbie and Lunchcakes.”I laughed it off of course, but those things stay with you. ⠀
Even though I had baby weight that most kids had at that age I still wanted different. Eventually I lost weight but it was hard. I would come home from school and call my mom at work and say, “I’m sooo hungry. What can I eat?” (besides the meals they give you) She would say “you can have a handful of carrots, celery and two saltines!”😬⠀

I wish The FASTer Way To Fat Loss was around when I was growing up. I would have learned how to eat whole food nutrition and learned a mindset about “progress over perfection” at a young, impressionable age. We don’t need anymore “perfectionists” out there!😉⠀

I make a big deal about The FASTer Way not giving you pills, shakes or wraps to lose weight because I don’t think they teach you how to change the way you eat and the way you think about nutrition for a sustainable time. It’s just a quick fix and you eventually go back to your old patterns. Trust me, I’ve tried them all! 😝I’m not bagging on those things, I just think if you want to make real change we have to dive deep into why we are eating and exercising in a way that isn’t giving us the results we want and that can be challenging. ⠀

Almost one year later, I finally feel like I have “food freedom!” There are times I’m not “perfectly” following the FASTer Way strategies and that’s ok. I know what to do and how to get back on track. That works for me! ⠀

Who likes Starbucks and all the fancy schmancy drinks at this time of year? 😳
While they are yummy, make you feel festive and in the holiday spirit, they aren’t always the best choice. Sugar Overload!
