Inviting all Children's Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, and Dietitians.

We are holding this 4-day workshop conference on Sequential Oral Sensory (S.O.S) Approach to Feeding on 23rd FEB to 26th FEB 2019 (Sat - Tues) here in Hong Kong.

The S.O.S. Approach to Feeding workshop is a transdisciplinary program for assessing and treating children with feeding difficulties and weight/growth problems from birth to 18 years. It integrates posture, sensory, motor, behavioral/learning, medical, and nutritional factors to comprehensively evaluate and manage children with feeding/growth problems.

We would like to invite you and your colleagues to join this workshop conference that will be delivered by Dr. Kay Toomey (S.O.S. developer), and Dr. Erin Ross, both of whom are coming from the USA to share with us their extensive knowledge and experience of managing feeding problems.

Hi, I’m a physical therapist…
Something I’m growing fatigued or is the all too common view point that “physical therapy” is a prescription that someone writes on a piece of paper. It’s something the “doctor” tells you to go do for X amount of times over X amount of weeks.

The issue with this mindset is that it completely ignores the PHYSICAL THERAPISTS and focuses on the therapy as something you apply to patients!

We shouldn’t be talking about trying PT… We don’t talk about trying “doctory”... there are good and bad physical therapists just like there are good and bad doctors and surgeons. We aren’t a homogeneous thing. We are individual medical providers who need a unified voice.

I don’t do physical therapy at people. I am a highly trained medical provider with advanced education and training in the management of patients with neuromusculoskeletal conditions that benefit from skilled human interaction, specific education, graded exposure, and progressive overload.

It’s a referral to see a PHYSICAL THERAPIST not a prescription for physical therapy.

In my documentation I no longer write the patient will benefit from physical therapy. I write the patient will benefit from physical therapist management for XYZ

It all starts with the common language that we all use. Language changes the way we think and interact. Change language and you change mindsets.
