I was in a hurry per usual 😅 and only grabbed a banana. I knew it wasn’t going to be enough! I was right. Bright side is that I proved myself right that breakfast is indeed super important 😉

What foods should you eat for PCOS?

The ones with FIBER!

Ok, there’s others too, but most us are coming up short when it comes to fiber.😒

Eating enough fiber can help blood sugar balance, inflammation, gut health, and helps keep you fuller + more satisfied.

It’s a miracle really— I may be exaggerating, maybe not though. 😉

All in all— it’s a great thing to focus on getting enough of (which is at least 25g a day)!

So let’s get creative with fiber, shall we?

PCOS & PREGNANT? Here’s what I think you should know having gone through it 3x now 👇🏻

- You need to let your doc know about your PCOS, what symptoms you normally experience, if you have high blood sugar/insulin, etc. PCOS can come with higher risks in pregnancy so it’s important your doc is aware.
- Request testing for progesterone, vitamin D, and thyroid labs asap after finding out you’re pregnant. These are commonly abnormal in those with PCOS which can affect pregnancy.
- It’s considered safe to take Ovasitol (inositol supplement) during pregnancy (and may even help lower your risk of gestational diabetes) but talk to your doc about it.
- Not all supplements are safe during pregnancy— you need to check (ahead of time would be best). On the other hand, be sure you’re getting enough essential nutrients, especially those that women with PCOS tend to be deficient in (vitamin D, magnesium, and more). A prenatal and/or additional supplements may be helpful.
- You’re at a higher risk for gestational diabetes. Talk to your doc about possibly being tested earlier.
- PCOS doesn’t just disappear in pregnancy or after pregnancy (I wish!). Some symptoms may diminish, become worse, or simply change.
- It’s possible to have a healthy pregnancy and baby with PCOS, even with higher risks!
- Don’t leave behind your PCOS nutrition, movement, and stress management routines behind! Adjust as needed, of course. 😊 ANYTHING TO ADD? QUESTIONS? Comment and let me know!

LIFE UPDATE INCOMING on where I’ve been and my plans ahead 👇🏻

Stay with me for a sec, it gets good, promise 😅

For the past couple years, I’ve been increasingly anxious and overwhelmed. I know I’m not alone in that. Being on social media all the time, trying to grow my business, and working with lots of clients WHILE staying home full time with my kids. 😑 I’ve been feeling the need for major change for a while now.

At the beginning of each year for the past few years I’ve made it a practice to pray and ask the Lord for a word to represent my year— this year I got it in a dream: FLOAT.

What I believe this means for me is to: Surrender. Stop drowning. Slow down. Rest in Him. Follow His tide.

So that’s what I’ve been trying to do! I decided it was time to focus and be present with my family more, and on my business less 😊

And RIGHT after I decided to take a step back, God threw us a curveball and reassurance I was doing the right thing— a NEW LITTLE GIRL on the way! 👶🏻 🎀

So between growing a baby, taking care of kids, finishing and moving into our new home, stepping back has been exactly what I needed to do. And I don’t see me going back to what I was doing before.

So stay tuned—my plans ahead include more writing/blogging, recipe writing, email support, etc. Just at a slower (more valuable) pace. Thanks for sticking around! 💛

Enjoy a few pictures from life lately ☺️

Do you feel like you’re sleeping poorly? If so, you’re not alone.

A few months ago, I realized I was not getting enough quality sleep and it was really affecting my mood, energy, and cravings. It was badddd!

I was staying up too late watching tv and scrolling my phone, not keeping a great routine, and getting too little sleep. And I kept waking up at night.

Something had to change.

I figured out when I do these 3 things, I sleep a lot better.
😴 stop the social scroll in bed. I’m not perfect but when I do this, I sleep way better. Blue light exposure (like from screens) can mess with your circadian rhythm.
😴 Go to bed at the same time (about 10pm) and (hopefully) get 7+ hours of sleep.
😴 Take magnesium glycinate— it’s not for everyone but it helps calm me + seems to help me sleep better as well (there’s research to back this up btw)!

I'm not saying YOU need to do these to sleep better. Everyone is different.

I challenge you to find what works for you!

If you're not sleeping + feeling stressed out all the time, changing your nutrition + exercising will only get you so far.

You can't ignore sleep.

What's your sleep goal? Let me know below!

👉🏻even reduce that extra face/body hair you don’t want

Best of all though, you can stop letting PCOS control you + be more present in your life!

➡️The way to do this is to address insulin resistance + inflammation— without dieting!

I created ALIVE to share all the ways I know how to heal insulin resistance + inflammation, and to give you the support + confidence to do it!

In this hybrid course + coaching program we’ll dive into nutrition, movement, stress, sleep, supplements, and more.

I’m not the only one. Here’s another story 👇🏻

Recently a past client contacted me. After months of doing SO WELL with managing PCOS and feeling amazing, she started gaining weight + feeling fatigued all over again.

She also noticed her basal body temp was low and she was having some skin issues as well.

She thought maybe her nutrition + lifestyle habits needed adjusting OR that it might be something else.

She was right about the latter! After getting labs, she noticed her TSH has been trending upward for a while now and this time was higher than ever. 😧

And now she’ll be taking thyroid medications and changing a couple things up to better support her thyroid health.

MORAL OF THE STORY: don’t blame it all on PCOS + ask for a full thyroid panel!

My personal PCOS-friendly favorites ☺️

Our family observes Lent and that means some meatless meals for us, which I don’t mind at all!

And Lent or not, it’s a great practice to include some meat-less meals in your meal plan each week. Opting for fish/seafood for more omega-3s and minerals, or beans for a fiber and protein combo, can help you get a different set of nutrients that can benefit your PCOS!

I don’t think eating meat is bad by the way, but there are some risks to eating too much of it and variety is always a good thing!

Have a meat-free meal you love? Share it with us in the comments!

Having trouble with your testosterone?

If you’ve ever wondered why you’re dealing with hair in places you don’t want it, clumps of hair in the shower drain, acne popping up like you’re still a teen, and periods so irregular you never know when they’re coming or not—— testosterone might just be the problem.

It was for me.

And birth control + spironolactone may mask the symptoms but they don’t fix the problem.

So inside my new masterclass, we’re diving into all the ways you can help lower testosterone naturally! This post just touches the surface— there is SO much more to know. And I’m sharing HOW to implement this in your daily life, too!

Want to hear more? DM me “TT” for the link to join. Best part: it’s only $47.

Katie Massman, RD

Hi! I’m Katie Massman, a Registered Dietitian in Clarksville, TN. For the last few years, I’ve been counseling hundreds of women on how to use nutrition to benefit their health and well-being. I’ve learned the dangers of diet culture and our society’s obsession with beauty and weight. I’ve seen the frustration and worry from women who can’t seem to keep up with society’s standards and feeling unworthy because of it. Women deserve better!

Now, I specialize in women’s health, specifically Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, and use an intuitive eating approach to help women find peace with their bodies and create a way of eating that feels good to them!

Thank you for joining me here!
