Specjalista w zakresie wad wrodzonych serca u dorosłych (rzadkich strukturalnych chorób serca) i wad zastawkowych. Specjalista obrazowania interwencyjnego w zakresie monitorowania strukturalnych serca, uczestniczący w zabiegach first-in-man („pierwszy w świecie”) (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1936879815008328?via%3Dihub). Jako pierwszy w Polsce uzyskał certyfikat umożliwiający wykonywanie nienadzorowanych zabiegów plastyki mitralnej typu brzeg-do-brzegu. Jako jeden z nielicznych w Polsce rozpoczął wykonywanie (jako kardiolog obrazowy) zabiegów przezskórnych na zastawce trójdzielnej. Jako ekspert Sekcji Echokardiografii Polskiego Towarzystwa Kardiologicznego, corocznie uczestniczy w szkoleniach ok 2000-3000 lekarzy. Promotor i recenzent przewodów doktorskich. Dissertation Supervisor, University of Edinburgh. Opublikował ponad 200 prac i rozdziałów w książkach, m.in. w The Lancet, European Heart Journal, Circulation i w wielu innych. Jego prace były cytowane w wielu międzynarodowych standardach postępowania/dokumentach uzgodnieniowych i podręcznikach. Na zaproszenie organizatorów wielokrotnie wygłaszał wykłady i/lub przewodniczył sesjom na zjazdach i konferencjach międzynarodowych i krajowych, m.in.: ESC Cadiovascular Round Table, European Society of Cardiology, World Congress of Echocardiography, European Association of Echocardiography/European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, International Cardiac Doppler Society, Biomed Alliance oraz Polskiego Towarzystwa Kardiologicznego. Współautor kilkunastu dokumentów uzgodnieniowych/rekomendacji wydawanych m.in. przez Polskie Towarzystwo Kardiologiczne i European Society of Cardiology. Czynny recenzent czołowych międzynarodowych czasopism jak, m.in.: Circulation, International Journal of Cardiology, American Journal of Cardiology, PLOS One i innych. Wieloletni recenzent Kardiologii Polskiej, wyróżniony tytułem „Złotego Recenzenta Kardiologii Polskie” w roku 2015, wcześniej dwukrotnie, w latach 2012 i 2014, tytułami „Srebrnego Recenzenta,” a w roku 2013 tytułem „Brązowego Recenzenta”. Poprzedni Przewodniczący Sekcji Wad Zastawkowych Serca PTK, dwukrotnie Skarbnik Sekcji Echokardiografii PTK, Przewodniczący Sekcji Echokardiografii PTK (2019-2021). Członek międzynarodowych zespołów eksperckich m.in: 1) European Health Technology Assessment Network (EUNetHTA), 2) Next Generation Health Technology Assessment to support patient-centred, societally oriented, real-time decision-making on access and reimbursement for health technologies throughout Europe (H2020), 3) MDCG - Post Market Surveillance and Vigilance (PMSV) Working Group (European Commission), 4) IMPACT-HTA project (London School of Economics). Profesor nadzwyczajny Instytutu Kardiologii (2012-19). Członek Rady Naukowej Instytutu Kardiologii (2011-2018), Zastępca Dyrektora ds. Nauki (2015-2018) Instytutu Kardiologii, który w czasie jego kadencji uzyskał po raz pierwszy najwyższą kategorię naukową (A+).
