Below is the summary report of the 32nd Digitally Inclusive, Healthy Ageing Communities (DIHAC) Study Cross-cultural Exchange Meeting, held on 10 December 2025 from 18:00 to 19:15 (JST). At the meeting, our COO, Mr. Shintaro Nakayama, delivered a presentation on the activities of OUI Inc.

This research was funded by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research 21H00795 entitled “Digitally inclusive, healthy aging communities (DIHAC): A cross-cultural study in Japan, Republic of Korea, Singapore and Thailand”.

Mobile Eye Scan (Outreach Eye Screening Service) Conducted at the Embassy of Mozambique in Tokyo

On December 12, 2025, OUI Inc. held a demonstration event of its outreach eye screening service, Mobile Eye Scan, for staff members and related personnel at the Embassy of Mozambique in Tokyo. A total of 15 participants, including the Ambassador, attended the event.

Since 2021, OUI Inc. has been collaborating with Lúrio University in Nampula Province, Mozambique, to conduct community-based eye screening initiatives using the Smart Eye Camera. We were delighted to have the opportunity to introduce our service and technology to the embassy staff, and to share how these solutions can contribute to improving access to eye care for people in Mozambique.

OUI Inc. is proud to announce that its initiative, “Eliminating Blindness Through a New Ophthalmology Diagnosis Model Using Smart Eye Camera,” has been honored with the Excellence Award at the 5th Japan Service Awards.

The Japan Service Awards, organized by SPRING (Service Productivity & Innovation for Growth) of the Japan Productivity Center, recognize outstanding and innovative services that create new value and drive the advancement of service industries. This year’s competition drew 768 entries, of which 33 initiatives, including OUI Inc.’s, were selected as award recipients.

OUI Inc.’s award-winning initiative leverages its proprietary smartphone-attachable ophthalmic medical device, the Smart Eye Camera, to build a new ophthalmology care model that eliminates barriers to eye care access. Through services such as “Plus Eye Doctor” (remote ophthalmic image interpretation) and “Mobile Eye Scan” (on-site corporate eye screening), the initiative enables a remote diagnosis ecosystem connecting patients who lack access to ophthalmologists with specialists located elsewhere.

With this prestigious recognition as motivation, OUI Inc. will further accelerate its mission to eliminate preventable blindness and visual impairment in Japan and around the globe.

OUI Inc. is thrilled to announce that we have been selected as one of the Top 12 global finalists in the Asian Development Bank’s AIDEA Tech Challenge 2025! Chosen from leading innovators around the world, we presented SEC at the AIDEA Tech Challenge Grand Finale on 28 November 2025 at ADB Headquarters in Manila.

The AIDEA Tech Challenge—co-led by ADB and PATH—is a global initiative calling for AI-based screening and diagnostic innovations that align with the WHO Essential Diagnostics List (EDL), the WHO Priority Disease List, and the Priority Bacterial Pathogen List, as well as the national health priorities of countries across Asia and the Pacific.
