Black & white… with an Irish spin. ☘️🤍🖤

Today’s set by inspired me to pour a pint of and talk about why I think it’s a great metaphor for a relationship.

⏳For a start, a proper pint of the black stuff takes 119.2 seconds to pour — because good things take time.
💝It’s deep, rich, smooth, and all about patience… just like love.

💯Some days you’re 10% and your partner is 90%. Some days it’s the other way around.
(And come on — no one wants a 50/50 Guinness anyway! 😂)

Here’s to emotional depth, trust, bittersweet moments, and the beautiful balance we build together.

CHOSEN FAMILY - to everyone of my chosen nearest and dearest people, thank you for being there for me getting me to this point in my life - I value each and every one of you and the time you have spent with me more than you’ll ever know. You’ve been the people I’ve wanted to see and see life with in this strange and beautiful world and lovingly held my hand through a lot of ups and downs. My husband Toby and our baby Roisha are my home an make me feel whole in our gentle, honest and unshakeably real family. This is love. This is life.

Ooh I love a symbolic ritual at a wedding so when ritual was set as today’s prompt by I was in danger of talking all day!

Whether it’s cultural, seasonal, or totally bespoke, I adore helping couples find something that feels genuinely meaningful to them — not just something to “fill a space,” but something that actually makes their hearts full of the warm fuzziness.

One of my absolute favourites? A ring warming.
It’s basically the most heartfelt game of pass-the-parcel you’ll ever witness. As the rings travel through your favourite people, each guest adds a wish, a blessing, a spark of love. By the time they reach the couple, they’re tiny metal circles carrying a whole room’s warmth.

We had one at our own wedding — a moment I’ll treasure forever.

And maybe I love rituals so much because of our little traditions at home. Tonight we decorated our Christmas tree, and thanks to my husband, it’s a full ceremony every year — fire on, cats present, Christmas tunes playing, festive drink in hand. I’d happily fling the decorations anywhere, but he makes us pause… remember where each one came from… and why it matters.

And that’s what a wedding ritual should be.
Not done for the sake of it — done because it means something.

✨ Take a breath
✨ Look at each other
✨ Look around you
✨ Feel all the feels

Those little pauses — whether during a ring warming or while hanging a questionable fuzzy neon pig on the tree — are the moments that stay with us.

It’s almost as if had an early forecast for today — her prompt couldn’t have been more topical… wild is the wind! 🌬️✨

It got me thinking about my own stormy wedding day, and how our love has a way of anchoring us no matter how fierce the weather (or life’s strifes) gets.

So I wrote this little poem — a nod to the winds that try to throw us off course, and the warmth of our hearts that keeps us steady, grounded, and connected.

Here’s to love that holds strong, even when the world blows us sideways.

Thanks for today’s Advent Challenge prompt ‘Not a Wedding.’ And as I’ve been wearing a Christmas cowboy boots t-shirt all day, it got me on my high horse to yeehaa to people who think that a celebrant led wedding isn’t a real wedding.

🤯😤? “It’s just a fake wedding” is one phrase that makes my eye twitch and my heart roll its sleeves up. It makes me madder than an old wet hen!! (It was cowboy week at baby class hence the lingo)

Because let me be the one to say:
A wedding is the moment you stand in front of your favourite people and say,
‘This is us. This is our beginning.’

That moment, that feeling, that magic?
Completely real. Completely yours. Your way.

A marriage is the legal meeting with a registrar —
ten minutes of admin, a couple of signatures, and you’re done.

One is paperwork.
The other is the story, the joy, the happy tears, the personality, the celebration. The start of the party!!! And with zero rules!!!
And I know exactly which bit I’m here for. 💖

✨ Advent Wedding Challenge: D A N C E ✨
…which filled me with fear, because while I’ll always follow the call of the disco ball, watching me dancing is an obscure experience💃🕺😂

So instead, here’s some completely unsolicited wedding advice — served with dancing pics from my own big day featuring my parents bopping their wee legs off.

💖 Dream WILD, dabbling with what might seem like crazy ideas.
Make a vision board that would make Pinterest tremble. Let yourself play with the silliest, most magical ideas… then scale it back to what’s actually doable (and affordable). Wedding planning should be FUN.

💖 Allocate moments for just the two of you on your day.
Your day flies by and everyone will tell you that because it’s TRUE. Build in mindful pauses to breathe, cuddle, laugh, and soak it all in together.

💖 Nonsense-check everything.
There’s so much pressure to do things “because that’s what you do at weddings.” Ask yourselves: Is this joyful and meaningful to US, or is it just expensive nonsense for someone else?

💖 Choose suppliers who feel like your people.
And because I’m a celebrant who had a celebrant-led wedding… have a celebrant-led wedding 😌

💖 Make your vows YOURS.
This isn’t a performance. It’s a celebration of your story. Share them aloud, exchange them in private, write letters, or co-create something completely unique with your celebrant. Do whatever feels like you.

Your wedding should feel like HOME.
And if that includes terrible dancing — welcome to the club. 💛✨

Day 1 of the Advent Challenge ✨
Thank you for posting this challenge and starting from a great place: VALUES.

When I trained as a life coach, we were encouraged to narrow our values down to three — and reminded that our values can change as we do.
So reflecting on mine today has been grounding and a bit emotional. And I struggle to stick to 3.

My values now are:
✨ Presence – because true connection starts with being fully here.
🧭 Integrity – always doing what’s right
💛 Compassion – meeting people where they are, with kindness.
🌈 Inclusion – from my work as a SENDCo and mental health lead, making sure everyone feels valued is at the heart of who I am.
🎈 Play – as a former early years teacher and now a mummy, play means joy, learning, exploration and deep connection.

I’ve long held Freedom and Connection as core values too, but this year I realised connection truly grows out of presence…

And freedom was a value I clung to during a period where I felt incredibly trapped. Letting go of that situation — and the need for “freedom” as a primary value — was powerful.

So now I’d love to know:
