Our long awaited feature; Aslan: The lion
Aslan is an extremely powerful piece that Terry created in 2019. Terry has used this piece to create a lasting image full of purpose and direction. The name Aslan comes from C.S. Lewis’ ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ and subsequently parallels the lion to represent an immaterial deity and allegorical figure.
Aslan’s all-powerful spirit is projected through the symbolic writing on his face. ‘Honour’, ‘Trust’ and ‘Courage’, all important virtues that Terry values highly and words that he uses often in his work, stress the strong moral compass and decisive nature of the lion, while offering empathy and a sense of comfort, similar to a creator who offers unconditional love and strength in emotional turmoil. He epitomizes goodness and justice in life and death, evoking a deep spiritual connection with many who first set eyes on the piece, and often feel a connection with lost loved ones.
