Who’s feeling overwhelmed at the thought of self care right now? 🙋🏻‍♀️

You aren’t alone friend. Here’s your reminder that taking a physical and mental stand against injustice requires strength. And if you feel weak right now, strength is exactly what you need. 💚

It’s not selfish to take 20+ minutes of your day to build mental and physical strength for yourself and your community. I’d argue that it’s kinda important actually.

💪🏼 Do it for all the people who have no power and agency right now.

💪🏼 Do it for the folks no longer with us.

💪🏼 Do it for the kids who have to inherit our future.

👉🏼 In this challenge, you get a gold star for doing the bare minimum. 👈🏼

Why? Because it reinforces your belief that you CAN show up! Which means you’ll trust yourself to do more in the future. Not-so-minimum after all huh?

All you have to do is set a timer and move for 5 minutes, every day in February. We’ll provide ideas, but you can literally do whatever you want!

Some seasons call for a vibes-based approach. This season is not that (for me). I need movement on my calendar, or it won’t happen (without a lot of guilt and shame).

📆 Scheduling movement (even if it’s just setting time aside and deciding later exactly what I’m going to do) tells my brain “this is a priority.”

And if the assignment is small enough to be doable, I start to believe I’m the kind of person who follows through on my priorities

I’ve noticed that many people gravitate toward community care at the expense of their own wellbeing, OR self care at the expense of community. It takes practice and skill to engage in both. Now’s a great time to practice. 💚

“I don’t owe anyone anything” is a great attitude to have 👉🏼 if you want to be isolated and not reap the benefits of community.

Oh you DO want the benefits of community? Time to show up then. In whatever way you can. Take outward-focused actions that directly impact the world around you.

Also, your body is part of the community. Self care is community care. You can donate ALL your time and money and energy to others, but then you won’t be able to enjoy the better world you created. Sustainability is essential.

Consistent doesn’t mean “never made mistakes” or “never took breaks.”

It means continuing to show up after both of those things.
Life is full of ups and downs. Consistency is when you don’t let those ups and downs permanently derail you. Consistency is when you show up just a little bit, because that’s all you can do. Consistency is when you teach your brain that you are capable of following through, even if it looks different than you expected it to.
