nasa (north american squirrel association) Working to create new, and enhance existing opportunities for youth, persons with disabilities, disabled veterans, and elders to access the outdoors.

Officially formed in 2003, the north american squirrel association (nasa) is a non-profit organization that grew out of the desire to provide physically challenged and elderly members of our community accessible opportunities to access the outdoors. Formed originally as a hunting and fishing organization, we have now expanded to include a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities serving youth, vetarns with disabilities, people with disabilities and elders. Through the kind generosity of individuals and businesses in the region, nasa is able to provide all of our programs and services to our participants at no cost. If you or someone you know might benefit from nasa's programs and services, please contact us anytime. If you have a passion for the outdoors, and would like to help someone less fortunate who isn't able to access the outdoors like an able bodied person, we need your volunteerism. If you are interested in supporting nasa financially or through other means, we would love to hear from you. Contact nasa at:

In September, Jerry and Kathy Krajewski of Onalaska generously donated a pontoon boat to our organization. Jerry’s mother Dorothy and her husband Leo raised 10 kids just north of Lake Onalaska, but had never been on the lake until she participated in one of the cruises offered by n.a.s.a. while residing at Eagle Crest. She absolutely loved the experience – it meant a lot to her.
Inspired by Dorothy’s joy and in remembrance of both Dorothy and Leo, Jerry and Kathy decided to donate this beautiful pontoon boat. We look forward to providing many enjoyable rides on this outstanding vessel thanks to their kindness. Jerry and Kathy, thank you so much for your generosity—it is truly appreciated.

The STAR Association is excited to announce the opening of The STAR Center on February 3rd, 2025.

The facility located at 1011 La Crosse Street is the first accessible adaptive fitness center in the region committed to serving those with disabilities. The new facility will allow the STAR Center to double the number of Specialized Disease Specific Exercise classes. In addition to a group exercise space, the facility will house a strength and conditioning area equipped with specialized equipment that allows those of all abilities to exercise independently.

The public is invited to attend the STAR Center Open House on Saturday, January 25th from 11:00 - 2:00 pm. All are welcome to come and check out the STAR Center facility, adaptive equipment, and group exercise area.

Thank you to our community for your support as we continue to grow! We can't wait to continue to move together and be physically active in the community!
