Maureen says she now knows the exercises by heart, she does it every day. šŸ‘šŸ‘

That’s the power of consistency.

She also mentioned, with a smile, that it’s been a while since we’ve done planks in class (got it!). šŸ˜…

At Living in Fitness, our sessions are designed specifically for adults over 60.

We care for:
• Exercises adapted to your joints and mobility
• Clear structure and safe progression
• Professional guidance at every step
• Online and in-person options to fit your routine

Staying active after 60 isn’t about pushing harder. It’s about training smarter.

Having someone to guide you, adjust when needed, and help you progress safely makes all the difference. 😊

One of our members recently went skiing.

When asked whether exercise had made a difference, she said it clearly:
ā€œYes, it definitely improved my fitness and overall stamina.ā€

But this isn’t about skiing.

It’s about being strong enough for your life.

For travel, long walks, playing with grandchildren, carrying shopping, and staying steady on your feet.

Regular physical activity:
šŸ‘‰ Improves balance and mobility
šŸ‘‰ Protects muscle and bone strength
šŸ‘‰ Supports heart health
šŸ‘‰ Helps maintain cognitive function
šŸ‘‰ Preserves energy and independence

Ageing well is not accidental. It’s built, one session at a time.

If staying consistent on your own feels difficult, that’s exactly why professionals exist.

We are here to guide, adapt and support

We all know that staying active is key to a healthy lifestyle, but let's be honest… sometimes, exercise can feel like a chore. šŸ˜‰

So why not make exercising fun?

The best kind of workout is the one you enjoy because that’s the one you’ll stick with.

At LivingFit Live Online, you’ll discover that exercise can be both fun and communal, especially for those over 55.

Our group fitness classes are designed to bring people together, fostering a sense of community that enriches the exercise experience.

It's amazing to see the progress in people’s physical well-being when they start adding exercise into their routine.

I think the most important thing is to believe you are capable. The next stage is to
have somewhere to go if you don’t want to get fit alone.

It's great to be able to offer such a space.

Looking forward to engaging many more over the coming year!

At Living in Fitness we believe movement should make life better… not just stronger.

That’s because the benefits of regular physical activity after 60 go far beyond muscles. šŸ’Ŗ

Research shows that staying active helps prevent chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes and bone loss, and improves balance, strength and flexibility all critical for independence in everyday life.

🧠 It also has positive effects on mood, memory and brain health as we age.

Being active isn’t about pushing yourself to extremes. Even moderate, consistent movement reduces health risks, supports mental well-being and can make day-to-day tasks easier and more enjoyable.

That’s why in every Living in Fitness class (whether in person or online) we focus on safe, functional movement that helps you live better, not just train harder. šŸ˜‰

See you next class!

Just a friendly reminder… it’s February now. šŸ˜…šŸ—“ļø

The holidays are over, and hopefully we have found or are stating to find our routines again.

Living in Fitness isn’t just about the workout, it’s about the people who make it fun to show up.

The laughs, the familiar faces, the ā€œcome on, you’ve got thisā€ energy… That feeling that everything gets a little easier when you do it together. 😊

So if you’ve been stuck in ā€œI’ll come next weekā€ mode…

šŸ‘‰ This is your sign.

Your spot is waiting.
See you in class.

Before every workout, whether in person or live online, we always start with a warm-up (and there’s good reason for it). šŸ‘

Warm-ups raise your heart rate, increase blood flow to your muscles, and help your body transition into exercise safely.

A proper warm-up prepares your muscles and joints for movement, improves flexibility, and makes your workout more efficient and productive.

🩺 UK health guidance recommends spending at least a few minutes warming up before you begin your main exercises to help reduce the likelihood of muscle strain and get your body ready for effort.

This is something we do in every class (online or face-to-face) because investing a few minutes in preparation means a better, safer session overall.

If you’re following our online classes, make sure to join us from the warm-up. 😊

Resistance!

Resistance training is not just about lifting weights; it& #39;s about challenging your
muscles to grow stronger. Whether it's through weights, bands, or bodyweight
exercises, resistance is key to triggering muscle growth and development.

Its important to be safe, but try to increase the resistance if you can. You can always
decrease the resistance half way through an exercise, this is called a dropset.

A step-up is one of the best simple exercises you can do for leg strength, balance, and everyday mobility. āš–ļø

It helps with the movements we use all the time: climbing stairs, getting up from a chair, and staying steady on your feet.

How to do it at home:
1ļøāƒ£ Choose a step
Use the bottom stair or a sturdy step.

2ļøāƒ£ Hold on for support if needed
Keep a hand on the wall, railing, or a stable chair nearby, especially if balance is a challenge.

3ļøāƒ£ Step up
Place your whole foot on the step, press through your heel, and stand tall.

4ļøāƒ£ Step
Go down with control.. The way down is just as important as the way up.

5ļøāƒ£ Switch legs
Do a few repetitions on each side.

How long will you do it for?? 1 min? 2 mins? Any amount of time is fine, best thing is to get started

A holding squat may look simple, but it’s one of the best exercises for building everyday strength.

It helps improve leg power, balance, and stability, all things that make daily movements like standing up, climbing stairs, or staying steady on your feet feel easier and safer.

The best part? You can do it at home, at your own pace. šŸ

If you’d like more guided sessions like this, we have a full library of online classes you can follow anytime. šŸ’»

I dug up this review from the archivesšŸ™

She told us she ā€œwouldn’t mind if we had classes every single dayā€ (but we need to rest too LOL)!

She knows the exercises by heart. But what she loves most is the reason she keeps showing up:

šŸ‘‰ She knows she needs a little encouragement to stay consistent, because she’s ā€œnot naturally a fitness personā€ (her words, not ours).

That’s exactly what Living in Fitness is about… Support. Motivation. A few laughs. And a room full of people cheering each other on.

Thank you Kati!!

At any age, exercise contributes a big part to your quality of life. As we age, this increasingly becomes the case. But there can be barriers to exercising past your 50’s; here are some our clients have mentioned:

- The gyms are not a comfortable environment

- Personal trainers don’t understand my needs
