Welcome to Meditation Monday and Day 6 of our October challenge! If you're finding it harder now than on Day 1, congratulations. You've entered what we call The Resistance Phase. Every meditator goes through these 4 stages:

Stage 1 (Days 1-3): Honeymoon. Excitement carries you.
Stage 2 (Days 4-10): Resistance. Your mind fights back against change.
Stage 3 (Days 11-21): Integration. Practice becomes easier, more natural.
Stage 4 (Days 22-31): Transformation. New neural pathways establish.

Right now, in Stage 2, your ego is threatened by the silence. It's creating more thoughts, more resistance, more reasons to quit. This isn't failure. This is your old patterns fighting for survival because they sense real change coming. Push through this week. On the other side of resistance is freedom. Keep sitting. Even when it's hard. Especially when it's hard. What stage are you experiencing today?

Day 3 of our challenge, and I'm already seeing the messages come in: 'My mind won't stop racing!' 'I keep checking the time!' 'I think I'm doing it wrong!' Perfect. These struggles mean you're actually meditating correctly. Here are the 3 mistakes I see most often and their simple solutions. Mistake 1: Fighting thoughts instead of observing them. Fix: Let thoughts flow like clouds passing through sky. Mistake 2: Expecting instant peace. Fix: Accept whatever arises, even chaos. Mistake 3: Judging your practice. Fix: Showing up IS success, regardless of how it feels. Remember, struggle doesn't mean failure. It means you're aware enough to notice the struggle. That awareness IS the practice. Tomorrow at 10am, I'll be sharing more about this in 'Seeing with the Heart,' a special talk about finding truth beyond the thinking mind, you can find more info on my website. For now, just keep showing up. Day 3 down. 29 to go. You've got this.

Welcome to Day 2 of our 31-day October meditation challenge! As we close out the day I want to mark the beginning of something powerful. Over the next month, just 5 minutes of daily practice will rewire your brain. Week 1: Your stress response begins to calm. Week 2: Focus and attention improve measurably. Week 3: Emotional regulation strengthens. Week 4: New neural pathways solidify into lasting change. The research is clear, but the experience is even more powerful. This morning, many of you sat in meditation together. Some for the first time. Some returning after years away. All united in the simple act of showing up. Tonight, I'm also beginning a new journey with students in 'From Longing to Fulfillment,' exploring how our deepest desires point us toward awakening. Whether you're in that course or simply sitting for 5 minutes each morning, you're part of this collective transformation. How was your meditation experience?

Meditation October Challenge - 31 Days That Could Change Everything. As we prepare to enter October, I want to invite you into an experiment: 31 days of morning meditation. Just 5 minutes. Here's why this matters: scientific studies show 30 days is the minimum needed to establish a neural pathway, also known as a habit. The ashram taught that consistent practice for one month creates lasting change. Most importantly, I've watched hundreds of students transform through simple consistency. The rules are simple: 5 minutes minimum (more if inspired, never less). Any time before noon counts as 'morning.' Any style; sitting, walking, breathing, chanting, they're all valid. In the ashram, we had a saying: 'The hardest part of meditation is remembering to do it.' comment below if you're joining in the challenge! I will be posting daily reminders to assist with your journey, with blessings and om 🙏

Meditation Monday: The Revolutionary Truth That Changes Everything.

We've been teaching meditation backwards. We tell people meditation should make them feel peaceful, calm, blissful. Then when they feel anxious, angry, or sad during practice, they think they're failing. Here's what 27 years taught me: Meditation isn't about feeling any particular way. It's about being completely present to whatever you're feeling. Some of my deepest meditations were with rage. Sitting with anger so fully that I discovered the hurt beneath it. Some of my most transformative sits were with grief. Letting sadness flow so completely that it washed me clean.

The goal should be to develop such intimate presence with your inner life that no emotion can overwhelm you. You become the space in which all feelings arise and pass, passing your observation with no interaction. Tomorrow morning, try this: Whatever emotion shows up, welcome it. 'Hello, anxiety. Sit with me.' 'Welcome, sadness. You're safe here.' This is advanced practice disguised as simple acceptance 🙏

Sunday Book Share: The Words That Changed Everything.

While writing my book Empower Your Life I had a revelation, writing spiritual guides is DIFFICULT. I gained a heightened appreciation for the sacred texts and books I have read through this journey. Suddenly all the books from my past were unveiled in a new light, the passion and dedication needed for their creation shining through. Books and texts remain one of the longest standing teaching mediums and for good reason, a good book at the right time can change ones life. What spiritual book cracked you open? Your share might be the exact recommendation someone in our community needs for their next breakthrough. Let's create a sacred library of transformative texts together! If you would like to add my own to your library you can find the link to purchase in my bio!

Friday Gratitude: You've Created Something Sacred Here. I need to pause and acknowledge what's happening in this space. In my book Open Your Heart to Love, I write that the purpose of it would be accomplished "if a word or sentence from it inspires you to love and serve others" You've transformed this digital space into a real sangha, a community of souls supporting each other's growth. You have answered the call in my book. Through your comments, shares, and vulnerable posts, you're proving that sacred connection transcends physical distance, and spiritual community can be found anywhere, spreading love through screens.

Thank you for showing up authentically. Thank you for supporting strangers. Thank you for making ancient wisdom relevant in modern times. What moment from this community has touched your heart or spoken to you?

Thursday's Science-Backed Spirituality: Your Brain on Meditation.

When I was in the ashram, skeptics would say 'meditation is just placebo.' Now neuroscience has entered the chat. Harvard studies show 8 weeks of meditation creates: Increased gray matter in the hippocampus (learning and memory). Larger prefrontal cortex (decision-making and emotional regulation). Reduced amygdala size (fear and stress response). Stronger connections between brain regions (integration and wisdom). You're literally rewiring your neural pathways with every sit.

What excites me most about this finding? Science is finally catching up to what contemplatives have reported for millennia. We're not making this up. We're not imagining benefits. This ancient practice has real tangible benefits, we're rebuilding our brains breath by breath through consistent intentional practice. The ashram taught me meditation works. Science shows me how.

Behind the teaching:

"To witness means to observe or have a clear awareness of what actually happens to us and in us, at each successive moment of perception, without reacting to it by deed, speech or mental comment. If a reaction takes place then we are to witness it as another thought. We observe the play of life as if we are watching a movie but without identification." - Prem Sadasivananda, Empower Your Life

How are you witnessing your life day to day? Explore witnessing as a state of being further in my book, Empower Your Life.

Meditation Monday: The Toxic Myth That Stops People from Meditating.

'Empty your mind.' These three words have probably prevented more people from meditating than any other obstacle. Let me be clear: In 27 years of intensive practice, I have NEVER successfully 'emptied' my mind. Neither have any other practitioners I know. Because that's not what meditation is.

Meditation is becoming aware of your thoughts without being controlled by them. It's like sitting by a river: you don't stop the water, you watch it flow. The goal isn't to have no thoughts. It's to change your relationship with thoughts. When you stop trying to empty your mind and start simply witnessing it, everything changes. Suddenly, meditation becomes possible for everyone, not just mythical beings with supernatural mental control.

If you've been struggling because your mind won't 'shut up,' congratulations! You have a normal, healthy, human mind. Now let's learn to work WITH it instead of against it. What meditation myths have you encountered?
