The GAS has worked with many excellent CRNAs - training as an ICU nurse was a prerequisite for CRNA training.
CRNAs had to work under the documented 'supervision' of an attending (consultant) anesthesiologist, otherwise the hospital wouldn't get paid.
When birds strike both engines, who would you like to land the plane on the Hudson River - an experienced pilot with years of training and experience .... or someone with a private pilot licence?

The long-running battle over nurse anesthetists continues, with one hospital's action causing a flare-up on social media.

One of our esteemed NAPC (no actual patient care) managers recently left us for a position at another hospital. As usual, her coworkers got folks in the office to sign a 'leaving card' with the usual mushy 'good luck' messages.
The GAS prefers to bring balance and write something memorable instead!

The Nursing & Midwifery Council - AKA 'they that eat their babies'.
It cuts both ways though ... I have seen properly investigated, 'slam-dunk' (alleged) patient harm cases dismissed by the NMC as 'no case to answer'.
Hospitals do, however, make a habit of not following their own disciplinary policies.
