Today many people are celebrating vijaya dashmi . Vijaya is for victory and dashmi for 10 days or 10th day . A question for all those who have fasted and practiced the rituals related to the Durga Pooja . Here you go:
"How many among you have been able to conquer your inner ravan or your inner mahisasur ?"
I have asked the question but not expecting for an answer because i know the answer in advance ...
Why 10th day or why we call this day vijaya dashmi ? Before explaining the mystical significance of this great festival, let me say, for almost everyone this festival is blind following. Some even do it as a cultural exhibition .
how can one have faith when belief is deep rooted in the mind, and without faith how can one conquer inner darkness ,ego, notion of i and all manner of conditionings ?
Tremendous amount of energy is required to do this . Thus, even Shree Ram, to set an example, worshipped the Supreme energy in the form of Mother Durga and thus was able to vanquish Ravan.
Now just imagine it took Shree Ram ten days to kill Ravan. He could have done so in an instant, then why ten days? Very symbolical indeed . The ten days symbolise the fact that if a spiritual person takes to spiritual discipline under the guidance of a Guru, and here Guru does not mean a person who represents any religion or perform any rites and rituals or discourses on the scriptures but rather an individual who has and is fully identified with the absolute . Such an individual can transcend his inner darkness symbolised by Ravan and Mahisasur. Here I have to empahsise that spiritual discipline does not mean mere repetition of God's name or any bookish prayers. It means to tread the fire of truth in daily life , facing one's weakness in the form of greed, anger, jealousy, lust , impatience , fear , arrogance, attachment, and so on .
In rare cases this can happen in ten days of deep meditation on oneself, but it's an absolutely rare case.
Please do not repeat like a parrot what others say '' victory of good over evil '' . If, however, you are tempted to do so, first look within yourself and then around in our society......
