Cole's Whole Heart

Cole has had countless procedures by the time he turned three, more than most will ever have in a life time. Today we’re back in KC surgery for the first time since 4th and final heart surgery. He has been given Versed to relax him hundreds of times. Normally he peacefully falls asleep. Today of course, the dental surgery brought an unexpected silly reaction, but it was a pleasant surprise. At least he calmed my fears and anxiety that usually comes when I walk through Children’s Mercy’s doors, and made me smile and giggle along with him instead of stressing out. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

If Rebecca Strickland my sister the best sister in the world and my best friend has ever made you happy, laugh, or smile. She was there for Cole thru it all thru all of our struggles. Anyone who knows Becca knows she lights up a room with her energy and her smile. She's a beacon of joy that we all benefit from having in our lives. Now she needs to lean on us; it's our turn to give back.

Recently, she was diagnosed with a rare lung cancer and will have to undergo surgery that will remove part of her lung. Andi and Becca are living 2 hours away from all these appointments and procedures, so transportation and copays alone are adding up quickly.

No tears or nervousness. He said “I’m excited Mommy! Bye, I love you.” I got a little emotional getting home, I’ve not been home alone in 6 years it’s so quiet. 🥺

So many countless days we never thought he was going to come home. So many hurdles. So much love and support. You are and will always be my hero. You made it!

Three weeks yesterday! Three weeks since we have had to use Coles g-tube,for food or water!

The last month he’s worked so hard. After almost 3 years of therapy and hard work he did it! Words can’t describe how happy we are and how much of an accomplishment this is for him.

This kid was aspirating on pudding thick liquids. I can not explain how big of a deal this is for him. Cole, you have no idea how many people are so proud of you! We love you so much!!

Hey, Y’all it’s been a while. If you know us you know, we have a lot happening in our personal life’s. A lot has changed with Cole we have made some progress.

1. Cole has moved to 5 bolus feeds during the day pushed very slowly. This took a lot of work and time for him❤️❤️ after 3 years NO MORE OVERNIGHT feeds and no more mama waking up constantly at night🙌🙌

2. Cardiology: We saw a different cardiologist for his appointment this week, and he wants to wean off two of the three diuretics that Cole gets twice a day. To keep extra fluids under control. Something I’ve been wanting to do for MONTHS but they wouldn’t . YEAH for finally getting to potty train!!!

3. COLE was a CHAMP at his echo!! I’m so proud of this little boy. Normally it’s takes anxiety medication and mom holding him for an hour. NOPE he knocked it out in 20 mins. He was perfect!! They even gave him a toy!!
