It's All About MI- Mental Illness is a mental health awareness program designed to start the conversation around mental health and reduce the stigma in high school. Programs are a mix of lectures, workshops, media and interactive presentations which focus on 4 main areas.1- what is mental health ( defining conditions, applying them to social settings, what to look for in friends and yourself). 2- Where to go for help and what happens when you access these services ( how much does it cost, privacy, parental consent, etc.) 3. Breaking the stigma ( sharing personal stories, stories of celebrities, and also leaving the audience feeling empowered to be change makers in the mental health spectrum to stand up and be informed and kind. At 14 i thought anxiety was something my mum had made up to make me feel better about being so sensitive and anxious all the time because i had never met another sufferer and at school it was very taboo to talk about. It was a conversation with a teacher who spoke about her experience so freely which really changed my thinking and inspired me to start It's all about MI so no person felt isolated whilst suffering from mental illness. My mission to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health in high schools
