APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN - DEADLINE November 7th 2022

The Oakley Fellowship is a 3-6 month travel fellowship aimed at expanding and refining an applicant’s armamentarium of neurosurgical pain techniques. This award is offered every other year, and supports an eligible applicant for up to $8,500 in travel expenses. Eligible applicants are residents in their PGY-4 year or later, or young neurosurgeons within two years of finishing their residency training.

Candidates should submit 1) a 500-word proposal summarizing their goals and identifying the mentor and institution or institutions where the training will take place, 2) their up-to-date CV, 3) their mentor(s) CV, 4) a letter of support from their mentor(s), and 5) a letter of support from their program director or chairman, if applicable. Help is available in identifying potential mentors and sites.

Applications are now open. Please submit all applications to the AANS Organizational Affairs, orgaffairs@aans.org by no later than Monday, November 7th, 2022

Join the Joint Section on Pain for our 2020 Annual Meeting, The Science of Pain Meets Everyday Practice, held in conjunction with Spine Summit 2020 at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, NV, March 5 - March 7, 2020.

The purpose of the 2020 Joint Section on Pain Annual Meeting is to provide continuing medical education to neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, pain physicians, fellows, residents, physician extenders, and nurse clinicians involved in the practice of surgery for pain including spine and peripheral nerve surgery. Education is provided in the form of didactic lectures, case presentations and debates, exhibits presenting the newest instruments and techniques, and oral and print poster presentations providing the latest information regarding clinical advances in surgery for pain.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this meeting, participants will be able to:

Adapt one or more pain management/neuromodulation therapies into your spine practice
Identify strategies to help build your pain practice
Explain the principles behind patient selection for neuromodulation
Demonstrate various surgical techniques used in neuromodulation
