Answer time! 🧠💥 Here’s the breakdown of our shoulder trauma case from earlier — did you get it right? 🙌
This was an anterior shoulder dislocation — the humeral head displaced anteroinferiorly below the coracpid process. It is often associated with a Hill-Sachs defect (posterolateral humeral head impaction) and a Bankart lesion at the anteroinferior labrum.
There’s also a radiograph of the same patient showing the anterior dislocation with the humorous lying under corcoid process.
👉 Teaching points:
1. Always check for associated fractures (greater tuberosity, glenoid rim).
2. Look for bone marrow edema patterns to confirm direction of dislocation, if the MRI is post reduction.
3. Assess labrum and capsule integrity — recurrent instability is common.
