Preventive Health Yogic Toolbox, 10 week Kundalini Yoga Series_ Week 1

So excited to start this brand new series meant to teach yogic tools to prevent or alleviate some commons ailments.
This week we're starting with the spine health. This Tuesday we're focusing on the lower spine tightness and the sciatic nerve area. And then on Thursday we'll move up the body and work on the ribcage area and upper body, neck and shoulder area. This week's practice is great for people who want to work on their back health. Ideally you would want to do some kind of back focused practice daily to have the best effects.

Hi dear Kundalini Yoga community.
I am very excited about this brand new series that will run from November 11th into January 2026 !
I am always encouraging my students to take notes and print out the sets I am teaching so that they can practice them on their own time when needed. This technology is way more potent when the practice is being integrated into your daily lives and not restrained to a weekly yoga class. It is particularly true with the preventive health kriyas.
So here comes your yogic preventive health toolbox. I chose 20 different sets I have rarely taught before so that even long time students can still have the pleasure to discover new flows.

Fall Transitions Kundalini Yoga Series_ Week 6 (End of the series)

Hard to believe that we're already at the end of our Fall Transitions series. We're ending with some deep grounding practices, focusing at the first chakra. In her book "Life is in your chakras, Guru Rattana describes the work and benefit of first chakra yoga this way : "Focus on feeling alive in your body and creating your spine as your body's center. Self-centering makes it possible to created boundaries, to not be manipulated by outside forces, to maintain your personal integrety, and to take care of yourself."
Parallel to the work we're doin this week in yoga, I also invite you to go outside, spending time in nature through walking, hiking or gardening. Feel the earth !

On Tuesday, we will practice a kriya called "First Chakra : Awaken Body and Spine". And Thursday I will teach you a first chakra meditation followed by the Hast Kriya/Earth to Heavens.

This week we're working on the immune system.

"As many longtime yogis can attest, yoga provides a gentle, natural means of supporting the immune system on a day to day basis, no matter how hectic your schedule might be. Yoga helps lower stress hormones tha compromises the immune system, while also conditioning the lungs and respiratory tract, stimulating the lymphatic system to oust toxins from the body and bringing oxygenated blood to the various organs to ensure their optimal function." Extract from Angela Pirisi's article "Support your immune system : yoga for wellness" published in the Yoga Journal.

On Tuesday we will practice "exercices to create a disease free body" and Thursday we will do a combination of kriya and pranayama practice to boost your immune system.

Dear Chants For Peace community. You are probably wondering when our next community kirtan will finally be scheduled ... well I have good news and sad news.

Let's start with the sad news ... life happens and that is also true for our band. Two of our band members, Geoff and Megan are facing new life rhythms and exciting new projects that leaves them with little or no time to spend with the band, at least for now. Which means that Chants for Peace is taking an unlimited pause after 10 years of togetherness, regular practice and sharing our chants with the community. We already miss each other but have to accept this new reality.

The good news is that the two remaining Chants For Peace members, Susanne and Jeff want to keep chanting and sharing our chants with the community. We have reached out to other experienced chant leaders in our community and are so excited to welcome Prem, Lea and Kristin into our practice !!!
We are currently learning to chant together, exchanging mantras, integrating our melodies and instruments. We are excited to announce that we are currently preparing our chant list for our first community Kirtan event that will take place this coming November 12th, 7-8:30 PM at The Somatic Wisdom Institute !!! We will not be ready, we will not be perfect, we will just be there to share chants from the bottom of our hearts with you !

Hey kundalini yogi friends, did you know that every Thursday, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, I am volunteering a free conscious breathing class at Gilda's Club Grand Rapids ? I love supporting anyone who is going through a cancer journey or their loved ones and caretakers. I teach different breathing techniques each week. The goal of every class is to feel better than when you arrive, learn to relax and release unsupportive energy.

Tomorrow, since the weather will still be so beautiful and sunny, we will take advantage of the beautiful grounds of Gilda's club and practice breathwalk outside !

Fall Transitions Kundalini Yoga Series_ Week 4

This week we're supporting our liver function.
"The liver is natural multitasker : it plays a large role in metabolism, helps build proteins, breaks down hormones, clears toxins from the bloodstream, and much more. You can do a lot of things to support it, including specific yogic exercises and breathing techniques that I will teach you this week.

This Tuesday we will work with the kriya called "Let the Liver Live" and on Thursday we will practice another kriya called KY for the Liver, colon and stomach. It's a two kriya week !

This week we're going deeper into detox supporting your liver and digestive system.
According to Ayurveda, fall is an ideal time for a gentle cleanse to rebalance the body after the heat of summer and prepare for the cold of winter. This seasonal transition offers a crucial window to support the liver and digestive system by addressing accumulated toxins and adjusting to the change in climate

This Tuesday we will work with the kriya called "Detoxification".

This week we will start a gentle detox process for your liver and colon and also support your immune system.

This Tuesday we will work with the kriya called "cleanse the body and disease prevention"
Thursday, in our meditative flow, we'll do some pranayama practice : Kriya to make the pores breathe and breath cleansing pranayama.
