The history of our organisation is important to our work and our people, of all ages.

Today, 38 of our volunteers visited the museum of the Order of St John at St John’s Gate in Clerkenwell, London. A great day learning about our history, from the origins of the Order in the 11th Century in Jerusalem.

It’s well worth a visit. Thank you to the everyone at the gate for making it a great day.

We had volunteers attend the Guildford Borough Council & Woking Borough Council Rememberance Services today. We then joined our friends at the British Red Cross to remember our volunteers who were part of the Voluntary Aid Detachment during the wars.

A busy night for our volunteers. We are at Guildford Lions Club firework festival, Woking District Rotary fireworks and a local community fireworks in Guildford. We are then at 3 remembrance services on Sunday.

Last night we had members providing medical cover for the Cranleigh & District Lions Club fireworks and bonfire evening. A great evening.

Our cadets joined the Uniformed Cadets Orienteering day today organised by the Army Orienteering team and Surrey Scouts. An amazing day. Even the adults got a medal.

A busy weekend for us. We had members at Woking football club, an event at McLaren HQ, some members on a training course and our youth members attended a leadership residential course.

Yesterday we ran our first Community Lifesaver course at our HQ in Guildford.

For just £30 and 3 hours of your time you can learn the following skills

* Adult, child, and baby resuscitation (CPR)
* Recognising and responding to chest pain
* Managing choking in adults, children, and babies
* Using a defibrillator: prompts and pad placement
* Conducting a primary survey
* Helping unresponsive individuals
* Controlling bleeding
* Responding to seizures

We are planning on running another course in the new year. Let us know if you are interested

We are at the Goodtings Gathering event today in Woking. We are providing first aid cover but also come and see our Team and learn how you can save a life. Also ask about joining our Team as a first aider or a youth helper. Come by and say hello.
