🦉𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗲𝘁 '𝗜𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲' 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 - 𝗢𝘄𝗹𝘀!

This month, we're shining a light on some of Scotland's most captivating creatures: 𝗼𝘄𝗹𝘀. Our inspiration comes from the fascinating ‘owl’ evening our Health Walk Coordinator Diane recently attended in Crianlarich, hosted by our Wild Strathfillan team and Aquila Wildlife & Nature.

Scotland's’ owl population is considered to be in a fragile state but slowly recovering which makes it even more important that we learn more about them and explore ways we can support their future.

𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝘄𝗹!
Throughout February we invite you to spend some time doing a bit of owl spotting.

👂𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀: The RSPB has an excellent collection of owl call recordings to help you identify whooo you might be hearing 🔗 https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/identifying-birds/bird-song-identifier

🦉𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀: Keep an eye out for feathers, nests and pellets, or activity around known owl boxes. Dawn and dusk are often ideal times to catch a glimpse of an owl heading out for a hunt.

🆘𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘄𝗹? Please contact the SSPCA for expert help.

🌿 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀, 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 & 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴
Welcome to our first nature‑connecting health and wellbeing newsletter of the year! As we step into 2026, we’re delighted to share some fresh beginnings, fond farewells, and a flurry of activity out in our communities.

We’re thrilled to welcome our new CEO to the Trust, who joins us at an exciting moment for our work across the National Park. At the same time, we say a heartfelt thank you to two valued team members Sue and Gareth as they move on to new chapters.

🦉We kicked off the first of our weekly health walks this year with a real chill in the air, and look ahead to next month as the very first snowdrops of the year are popping up - always a hopeful sign that lighter days are on their way. And if you’re joining our monthly 'In Step with Nature' challenge, this month we’re turning our attention to owls: their habits, their plight, and the magic they bring to our forests.

Finally, take a look at next month's Strength and Balance session dates and enjoy our feature article "Burns, Ballads & Balance: Killin Pupils Light Up Our Session!"
