Explore With Jator Day walker, curiosity cultivator, shadow seeker. I am an explorer of self, curiosity cultivator, walker of earth, and a shadow seeker.

Each day I am honored to work with clients worldwide on their inner realities, gut health, auto-immune issues, addictions, perceptions, physical ailments, and unresolved trauma. My 22-year journey into inner coaching, ancestral nutrition, functional medicine, and movement has gifted me with numerous self-growth and development tools that I skillfully use to guide others to guide themselves to their version of inner balance. My struggle with fear and shame has fueled me, and through that journey, it has become clear to me that a fully integrative approach is a prerequisite to healing. Through our work together, you may find yourself examining, discovering, and understanding not only how your body function's but how each one of your physical symptoms correlates and are expressive of underlying mental, emotional, and behavioral patterns.

The Magical Mind of the Child & The Sovereignty of the Self

What if no one was ever responsible for how you feel?
Not your partner, not your parents, not your friends.

What if the happiness you give credit to others for,
and the pain you blame them for,
were both created by the same source: you?

We grow up believing others cause our emotions,
but emotional maturity asks something far deeper:
to take our power back,
to stop outsourcing our joy and our pain,
and to begin re-parenting the child within who still believes it’s someone else’s job to make us feel safe.

This piece explores the shift from the magical mind of a child
to the sovereignty of self,
where we stop chasing control
and start cultivating inner safety.

**The Dark Side of Meditation**

We often talk about meditation as light, calm, and peace. But like everything in life, it has a shadow.

In my own experience, meditation can quietly become a form of denial a way of numbing feelings rather than meeting them. It can turn into hiding instead of seeking, or even a kind of spiritual arrogance, where the ego puts on a robe of stillness and calls itself enlightened.

At times, I’ve used meditation to silence the parts of me that were hurting the same way adults once silenced me as a child. That’s when I realized the dark side of meditation isn’t the practice itself, but how we use it to avoid being fully human.

Real meditation, to me, is allowing both the observer and the participant to coexist. To watch and to feel. To be calm and messy. To be spirit and flesh.

Awareness isn’t about escaping humanity. It’s about embracing every part of it. Full Post

Why We Celebrate Through Self-Criticism

Most of us don’t realize how often we celebrate ourselves through criticism.
We call it self-awareness or striving for growth, but underneath it’s usually fear. Fear of slowing down. Fear of pride. Fear of being seen.

We’ve learned to feel safe through self-attack. To mistake self-control for self-respect. To survive instead of thrive.

So when acknowledgment appears, when a part of us whispers you’re doing well, another part steps in and says, don’t get ahead of yourself.
But what if we learned to celebrate differently?

To celebrate through courage, through acknowledgment, through noticing how far we’ve come.

Would you be willing, even once today, to celebrate yourself without needing to earn it first?

Foam Rolling the Ego

Most of us use a foam roller to find tightness in the body.
But what about the tightness we carry in the mind or heart?

We all have hidden trigger points places where pain, fear, or old stories live quietly beneath awareness.

Life has its own way of “rolling” over them.
Through tension.
Through conflict.
Through moments that do not go our way.

When we meet resistance, we are being invited to explore what still hurts and what is ready to move.

This week’s newsletter explores what I call foam rolling the ego, how physical pain mirrors emotional knots, why starting anywhere (even with the body) matters, and how awakening can change how others experience us.

It’s an exploration of pressure, pain, and freedom.

Becoming Your Own Guru

What if the teachers you look up to are really mirrors reflecting your own potential?

Becoming your own guru isn’t about rejecting guidance. It’s about learning to trust your own inner knowing while recognizing that what you admire in others already lives within you.

Every interaction, every projection, every moment of admiration or judgment is an invitation to see yourself more clearly.

Maybe the real journey isn’t about finding the next guru, but realizing the one that’s already inside you.

Defensiveness, Security, and Separation

Notice the places where you believe so deeply that you know the right way. Do you defend those beliefs? Attack others who disagree?

Often, beneath that need to defend is insecurity. We cling to rigid certainty because it gives us a false sense of safety. But this separation, me versus them, only closes the door to connection.

What would it look like to unweld the mind, to open toward others with curiosity rather than defense?

When we start looking closely at who we think we are, we often encounter something unexpected: the roles we play in life and the identities we carry with us.

Sometimes they overlap, sometimes they blur together, and sometimes they create confusion.

Am I the role I play?
Am I the story I tell?
Or is there something beneath all of that, something closer to pure experience without complex thought?

We take around 22,000 breaths a day.
That’s 22,000 opportunities to nourish our body, calm our mind, and create balance in our system.

It’s also 22,000 opportunities to trigger subtle or not-so-subtle stress.

How Breathing Shapes Your Health

Most of us don’t think about our breath until it’s challenged. But the way we breathe isn’t just about oxygen it impacts our nervous system, our gut, our inflammation levels, and even our capacity for change.

I once received a referral from a highly respected functional medicine practitioner who had been working with a client for over a year. They’d addressed diet, lifestyle, gut microbiome imbalances, and stress management. The client had run the tests, followed the protocols… and yet, nothing was shifting.

When we met, I noticed her posture immediately: rounded shoulders, head forward, chest collapsed. We spoke briefly about her posture, both in terms of physical mechanics and the emotions it might be holding. I then gave her a single 15-minute daily exercise to open her thoracic spine, reeducate her diaphragm, and restore better breathing mechanics. (see exercise below)

Within weeks, all the previous work she had done started to “take hold.” Her body began to respond to the protocols. Symptoms improved. What changed wasn’t the supplements or diet it was her breath.

The Cost of Change: A Practice for Readiness

I want to offer a perspective. Not a prescription, not a solution, but an awareness tool. Something you can sit with, explore, and maybe even play with.
This week’s reflection centers on a simple but often uncomfortable truth:

Change comes with both benefits and challenges.
And we tend to forget that.

It’s easy to buy into the fantasy that change, or the process of going after what we want, will deliver only reward. That if we can fix this thing, get over that hurdle, break through this block, then we’ll finally have what we’ve been searching for.

But sometimes, in chasing greener grass, we forget to look down at the ground we’re already standing on. And more importantly, we forget to ask why we’ve stayed here so long.

In my work with clients, I often introduce a tool I’ve found to be both simple and meaningful. It's a way to assess our readiness for change. Not from a critical lens, but through gentle observation.

Before I introduce the tool, I want to share a story. 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

I want to begin with a question.

It may seem simple at first glance, but I won’t be explaining it too much because sometimes explanation waters down the potency of a question.

So here it is:

How do you digest life?

And

How does your digestion of life mirror how your body digests food?

Let that settle. Let it marinate. Let it sit with you for longer than a scroll or a sip.

Because I believe this question, when lived with rather than answered too quickly, holds depth beyond information.

It holds transformation.
