Wait—don’t reach for that Q-tip yet!

Bath time is fun until you realize you’re not sure how to clean those tiny ears safely. Some water in the ear canal is OK and safe. One of the biggest mistakes I see is parents going too deep into the ear canal , but the “Golden Rule” is simple: Clean the outside, stay out of the inside. Most ENT Surgeons HATE Q-tips. I think Q-tips are ok if used correctly. I’m showing you my 2-step routine to keep ears clean and dry without the risk (or the meltdowns!): 1️⃣ Gentle water pour to rinse the outer ear. 2️⃣ Soft cloth + safety Q-tips for the outer folds ONLY.

Last night I cried. I went to my Bible to find the hope that WE need. God’s word clearly reminds us what’s he will do in times of oppression. I will continue to use my voice for those on the margins, oppressed, vulnerable, immigrants, orphans. “And the King will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ ”

Devestated. Disgusted. Disturbed. I worked alongside Alex Pretti, Minneapolis VA nurse while I did my residency training in Minnesota. He took care of my head and neck cancer patients who had large cancer removal and reconstruction cases. He was kind. He was funny. He was caring. He was unforgettable. He was MURDERED. I am deeply saddened 😢. My heart goes out to my state of Minnesota and his family. I pray for this country.

In preparation for this possible “massive snow/ice storm”. Throwback to my second winter in Minnesota. I was a PGY2 ENat resident. A southern girl learning the hard way about what a true snow storm was like. I unknowingly parked at the top of the parking garage (uncovered parking) in the mist of a massive snow storm. Annnddd of course we were running long in the OR so I ended up being stuck in the hospital sleeping in an abandoned patient ward. 😭🤣🤣 Ahhhh fond memories! I learned a lot about surviving a TRUE winter through my 5 years in Minnesota. 👩‍⚕️💊💉
