MIDWEEK MUSINGS

Fascia, Hydration & Movement

There’s a lot being said about fascia right now… some useful, some overcomplicated. You may have heard me talk about it, especially in Pilates sessions.

Fascia is the connective tissue that links everything together and helps transfer force through the body.

Hydration plays a role — well-hydrated tissue tends to move and glide better — but it’s not just about drinking more water…it responds to load.

It’s about how you move.

Strength
Movement through range
Changing direction
Elastic work (running, plyometrics)

This is what keeps your body feeling fluid, strong, and coordinated.

When that’s missing, things stiffen up and movement becomes harder.

At the Hub, I offer a variety of group sessions designed to give you that more rounded, effective movement - not just one piece of the puzzle.

If you want to move better and feel stronger… you know where I am

MIDWEEK MUSINGS 🤔

Lauren and I were literally musing yesterday morning about the differences we see between men and women in classes that we teach. Do men have less coordination than women?
Are women just naturally more controlled in balance and coordination?
Are some people just more coordinated?

Here’s the reality from a movement perspective…

Women often do show better balance, control and fine motor skills.
Men often show more power, speed and explosive coordination.

So it’s not better vs worse…
It’s different systems being trained and used more.

Coordination isn’t something you either have or don’t have, it’s something you build

Your coordination is shaped by:
✔ what you’ve practiced
✔ how you move day to day
✔ the environments you’ve been in
✔ your confidence in movement

Spend years running in straight lines?
You’ll be great at that.

Add in balance work, strength, control, instability, reaction?
You become a completely different mover.

This is exactly why at The Runners’ Hub we don’t just “train fitness”…

We train:
✔ control
✔ awareness
✔ strength through movement
✔ resilience

Because better coordination = better performance AND fewer injuries

So instead of asking…
“Am I coordinated?”

Try asking…
“Have I trained coordination?”

Big difference.

❤️ LOVE THE PROCESS ❤

Always learning so I can give you better care
Recently attended a course with Physiquipe and loved this feedback they shared (and yes… that’s my review 👀).
Investing in CPD means you get clearer answers, better rehab plans, and more confidence in your treatment.
It’s not just about working hard—it’s about working well.

“Very informative. If you want a chance to ask all those niggling questions that crop up in clinic, this is definitely the workshop to attend. I highly recommend.”

Feedback like this is exactly why we do what we do.

Our courses are designed to give you clarity, confidence, and practical answers you can take straight back into clinic.
