Public Eye’s investigation found the wheat-based cereal for six-month-old babies sold in Germany and the UK contains no added sugar. But the same product in Ethiopia, South Africa and Nigeria, contains between 5 to 7 grams of sugar. That’s extremely bad for babies.
Excess sugar at an early age isn’t just “sweet.” It rewires taste preferences, increases the risk of childhood obesity, tooth decay, and long-term metabolic issues. For a brand trusted for infant nutrition, that’s unacceptable.
Our markets shouldn’t be treated differently. Our children shouldn’t be given second class nutrition.
Parents deserve transparency, Africa deserves the same standard of care offered elsewhere.
