This site is to raise awareness about Progeria. My goal is to raise money and donate it to the Proge The function of this gene is to hold a cell together.
Children with Progeria are unfortunate; however, they open our eyes and motivate us to do greater goods. Progeria is a rare disease that speeds up the aging process by 8 to 10 times. The reason this occurs is because of a specific gene known as "LMNA." Children with Progeria have a mutated form of this gene; thus, their cells can't hold together and they fall apart. This increases aging tremendously. There are approximately 87 known cases of Progeria. The cause is known but the cure is unknown. There are no known ways to prevent progeria, unfortunately.
