“When I see your child, I see my child.”

In a residential treatment setting, this isn’t just a comforting phrase — it’s a guiding principle.

To care for a young person’s mental health is to be trusted with something sacred. Parents send their children to us during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. They carry worry, fear, hope — and sometimes guilt — as they hand over responsibility for their child's well-being.

That’s why, as professionals, we remind ourselves: This could be my child.

Would I want my own child to feel safe, seen, and valued? Absolutely.
Would I want them challenged, but never shamed? Yes.
Would I want the people around them to believe in their potential — even when they’re struggling to believe in it themselves? Always.

So that’s how we show up. With empathy, with accountability, with deep respect — treating each student not as a case or a number, but as someone’s beloved child. And in that, we also honor the trust placed in us.

Because when we see your child, we see our own.

TESTIMONIAL:
"Our son has developed a strong sense of self and demonstrates a level of maturity that exceeds his years. While maintaining a close-knit circle of friends, he also exhibits high social comfort and ease in various settings. And, of course, we are grateful that Telos gave him so many tools to help him return home and hit the ground running."

Skiing and snowboarding are not just fun winter activities—they can benefit your mental and physical well-being. Combining fresh mountain air, physical movement, and natural surroundings creates a unique environment for stress relief and mental clarity.

Both sports engage your body and mind, helping to reduce anxiety, improve focus, and boost your mood. After mastering a new skill or tackling a challenging run, the sense of accomplishment can build confidence and provide a mental reset. Physical exercise also helps release endorphins, enhancing well-being and overall fitness. Skiing and snowboarding also offer a break from the classroom and the floor, allowing Telos students time to connect with others, get outside, and immerse themselves in the present moment.

We are grateful to all the Recreational Therapy staff and mentors who have worked hard to make the days at Sundance possible. Thank you!

Working with young women facing deep trauma and abuse revealed the need for real healing — that’s how the Survivors Group was born.

Led by Karl Jensen, Telos Recreational Therapist and mentor, the Survivors Group meets weekly on the North Campus to create a space for safety, connection, and growth. Karl helps students process their pain, rebuild trust, and rediscover strength through experiential therapy and meaningful dialogue.

At its heart, the Survivors Group is about more than recovery — it’s about helping each student reclaim hope and remember that healing is possible.

One of the most meaningful parts of CEO Craig Lamont’s career at Telos isn’t found in boardrooms or behind a desk—it’s sitting in a circle with parents at Family Days.

Craig often shares that the parent support group is his favorite part of the work we do. It’s in those conversations—parents supporting parents, sharing struggles, celebrating progress, and realizing they’re not alone—that healing and hope truly take root.

Family Days remind us that treatment is not just about the students, but about strengthening entire families. And that’s what Telos is all about.

Gratitude isn’t just about saying “thank you”—it’s a powerful tool for improving mental health. Taking time to notice what we’re thankful for can lower stress, strengthen relationships, and increase overall happiness.

Even small moments of appreciation—a shared laugh, a warm meal, a helping hand—can shift perspective and nurture a calmer, more positive mindset.

As we gather this week, let’s celebrate more than just the holiday. Let’s celebrate the quiet strength that comes from gratitude, reflection, and connection.

TESTIMONIAL
"After months of our son being away in wilderness therapy, the last decision we wanted to make was to have him away for an unknown period of time. We knew he needed a healthy place to transition back to school and a time to prove that he could live within new boundaries. After weeks of searching, we found Telos and haven't regretted a day since. Thank you, Telos."
