Kubrick was speaking about cinematography, but this seems to apply to life as well, doesn't it? For isn’t life nothing but a moving picture? A three dimensional projection into time and space...

This makes one wonder… What is the film about? The movie of OUR LIVES? How does the story go? How will it end?

It helps to remember that we are each the director of our own movie. But not only that. We write it, produce it, cast it, star in it... We determine the course and shape that our story will take.

Like any good story, there are ups and downs, twists and turns. And of course, crises, conflict, suspense, triumph, and defeat. All the elements that keep a good story moving along.

At the center of it all is the protagonist. The hero... and that hero is YOU.

Yes, you are the central character, but never forget your role as DIRECTOR. You choose how to light each scene. How to frame it. How to pace it.

You decide which way the story will go and how the hero's journey will unfold.

Of course, there is always the element of surprise and the unexpected. As well as things outside of our control. But that is when we must employ the skills of adaptability and flexibility.

And thus the story unfolds — both of its own volition as well as our own.
